I started with a glass of pinot grigio; then a beautiful platter of seafood linguine ($14); a small pile of perfectly cooked linguine almost completely hidden under delicious cherrystone clams, mussels, big tender shrimp and poached fresh tomatoes and sprinkled with sliced poached garlic and shreds of fresh basil. Mom has a lovely slice of pate maison, with shredded cabbage and frisee salad and cornichons (tiny sour pickles). The breads are incredible in this place; they bring a huge basket of hot, homebaked rolls: sourdough, pumpernickel, sunflower seed, raisin, olive and soft, floury white rolls, with pretty little crocks of sweet butter.

A lot of people ordered the osso buco which was served with polenta, and enjoyed it very much. Others had panini of different types. Everyone was happy.

Feeling in a show-off mood, I ordered the mille-feuille with lavender cream ($6.50) for dessert and everyone had a clean fork to taste it. It is two big feathery-light and crispy bars of puff pastry with a pile of mascarpone cream on a lavender-flavored pool of custard sauce, decorated with a pile of fresh blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and candied violet, with a light snow of powdered sugar over all. The most gorgeous dessert! I think the prices are terrific, for such quality.

It's very unusual for that many women to agree on something....

Ain't it da truth! :floorrollin:

Actually, two men and nine or ten women (two gals bring their man friends). I was very pleased that nobody had an objection to a return visit. I was nervous they wouldn't like the place, or the food, or something.

Chrissy, thanks for the compliment. Missed my true calling; I should have been a food writer. Imagine getting paid for eating out! :faint:

Glad you liked the food, John!

Well I don't think our Chinook is going to be around much longer. I heard there was a cold front coming in from BC... :fryingpan: Murray thanks.

Busy day today. The managers were in the office for the quartiles. I work at the main office so they all come here from all over. I got to see my Buddie my Chicago manager today. Always good to see him. We make a good working team. Tomorrow all the managers are out at the ranch so we can slack off.

What other office gossip can I share

Oh yea, 2 of my friends/coworkers got married last fall. One in Sept and one Nov... :faint: they are both pregnant.

Usually that spreads around like crazy. The last time we had a rash of pregancies we would joke and say best becareful which chair you sit in...

NO Heather...I just seen that post ...I am careful with whom I share my chair

Yawn! I just woke up from an hour nap - couch sleeping is so rewarding. Don slept all afternoon. Chrissy and Frank wear people out :floorrollin: :floorrollin:

Heather that lunch sounds delicious. Those rolls reminded me of the garlic knots last night - we demolished two baskets worth. And the dish we had after dinner - fresh pasta wrapped around a pear slice with gorgonzola cheese...and then the tiramasu...and the Nutty Irishman (Baileys and Fra Angelico) on the rocks...

I woke up wanting ice cream, but having none, settled for some M&Ms and sour cream and onion potato chips. And a beer.
