Another one of "those" nights - oh well, I had a "good" six hours of sleep last night.... that's starting to sound okay these days. LAST night, I put it down to being a tad worried about my Dad and his cataract procedure today.

But I called at 5 pm and everything went beautifully! Can you believe it? - 10 to 15 minutes in the actual "Operating Room"? And not so much as ONE stitch! Only a 3 mm (<1/4 inch) incision. Man, have things changed in the last 20 years or so....
My sister is staying overnight, as he sees his regular eye-doc in the morning. But it sounds like he should be doing well in a week or so.

So why the Heck am I having trouble getting to sleep tonight? :banghead:

Good morning Mur. To confront frailty in our parents is to confront our own impending frailty. When my father died, the conventional wisdom was that my mom would die shortly thereafter. She did not. In fact, she showed more "spunk" than I thought she had.

I'm happy to hear that the laser surgery went well.

You should see the stars from here, Mur. There is no outside light. The sky is black. The stars all come out and try to grab you.l I have my telescope set up, but right now it seems like they are reaching down to grab people. I am expressing this poorly. I'm not talking about UFOs.

What I was trying to say is that it seems that the sky moves closer to the ground. It is an optical illusion, of course, but it is very cool. Now that it seems that Pluto has moons, I am trying to find Pluto in this puny little telescope.

I have a few leftover blueberry muffins from yesterday, ya want one?

MMM....leftover blueberry muffins; a few moments in the microwave or the oven and they are better than new.

Doc, I have boondocked in the desert and seen the stars like that. Dazzling is a good word to describe them and I love that illusion that they are right down there in your face. In fact, we had a night like that last week here, when a cold front blew through and the stars just blazed, in spite of all the streetlights.

Good morning to everyone here; I am off in a bit to see the optometrist and spend a lot more money. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Medicare paid dental and glasses as well as all the rest?

Murray, I am so happy your dad did so well. How is he feeling? Mom hated the eyedrops she had to do for a week after; I think that was the worst part, because they burn.

Morning all!

Mur, good news indeed.  Doc, I'll take one of those muffins, thank you. :tiphat: Good luck Heather, although the eye doctor is much better than the dentist. :spin: Chrissy, safe trip!

Off work until Wednesday, and then only 2 days next week, for a whopping total of 12 hours or so!!  Weather is gonna be nice, so will get lots of sun, I hope!!!!!! Gotta get the tan nice and dark before it gets to hot to lay out.

They are doing some weird stuff in the vacant lot on the other side of the wall behind us. :faint: A couple of days ago, a machine was there to "till" up the ground. Then they watered the crap out of it...............now, a machine making it all smooth again. Just gotta ask, "why"??????????????

Bold crooks around here!!!!! Someone had a trailer parked in the overflow area. But this area is between the pool and a row of RV's, not like out in the boonies or something. Just one of those trailers that get towed behind MH's or 5er's that have "toys" in them. Of course this one was painted with "Grandpa's Toys" on the side of it, so really inviting. Apparently to inviting, as it was gone yesterday morning. Haven't heard if the guys 'vet was in it or not. :faint:

Hope you all have a great day!!!!!
Greg, Dylan & Jasper too!

Not a good idea to advertise it. For some strange convoluted reason (who - ME?), that reminded me of hearing a story about a NYC garbage strike, way back in the '70s sometime. It must have been in the late Fall, I guess, but the gist of it was that a few folks had wrapped their garbage tightly in boxes with Christmas wrap on them, and left them in their unlocked cars on the street.

Sure enough, the "gifts" were long-gone in the morning.... ;)

Hi, guys. Grey and chilly here - sounds like I'm home :floorrollin: :floorrollin:
Good day to catch up on housework - it was helpful that Don put a 1/2 gallon of apple juice in the fridge on its side - with the top not quite closed. Well, the fridge is thouroughly cleaned :fryingpan: :fryingpan:

Have a day :) See you all tonight.

Well, I am $230 lighter in the wallet...and that is using the old frames! :faint: I can never get over how much frames cost. I use the old ones as long as I can.

It was so windy in the professional building parking lot, I had to lean into the wind to make it to the doors. The building is on top of a hill and the wind has nothing to stop it. Icy, icy cold. Then of course they gave me the drops to dilate the pupils and when I came out I sort of drove home with my eyes shut...glaring sun. Well, I can finally see again, more or less. ;)

Pat, did Don clean up the mess? Bet he won't do that again!

Gee Whiz! I just got new lenses on Monday - 85 bucks. I thought stuff was supposed to be cheaper in the States - ?
(oh, and our plan does cover glasses, so we get the 85 back anyhow)

Was there anything special about yours, like graduated bi-focals or something?

Speaking of graduated bi-focals, just heard Tiny Tim and Tip-Toe through the Tulips on 60's radio. How do you think he would look/do on "American Idol" ???

Not graduated, but extra-large bifocal area (I detest chasing the words around the page with a tiny little bifocal spot), and the lightweight, unbreakable non-scratch lenses. My glasses lead a rough life!

Lucky Kate, going out to dinner. I get lunch out once a month; NEVER dinner!

My eyes finally got bad enough that I need glasses full time. I got progressive (lineless) trifocals. Remembering to wear them is an ongoing process. You cannot miss me. I'm the guy that stops at the top of each set of stairs and looks down purposefully and the stairs as I descend. I have to get them lined up in the right zone of the glasses, LOL.

I let them talk me into some rather expensive frames, but I am happy with them. They are very light and spring back into shape if bent. I am lobbying my boss to add vision coverage to the company insurance plan. I said, "Doc, we need vision coverage." Yes, I know, it is funny that my boss and I have the same name. Hey wait a minute, that's me. Anyhow, I figured out that it isn't worth getting coverage. I get three pair per year, reading/computer, clear progressive, and photochromic progressive. Frames last three or more years if I purchase good ones.

Anyhow, I'm glad you got that taken care of, Heather.
