Reporting this morning that Cheney didn't have Texas tags to hunt, it's too bad that he wasn't shooting in Canada....he would be jailed.
a- Discharging a Firearm from a vehicle - (if the report is true)
b- No current License - game tag.
c- Careless use of a firearm -
This man just aint had no fetchen up when it comes to a goen a hunten.

I can see it all now. The menfolk after a long day in the marshes, fields,or other rugged natural habitats all share their days catch of Quail prepared in Plum sauce with a brandy glaze.

After an hour of gluttonous feasting and guzzling of vintage Sherries and Ale's the exhausted crew all settle in the Gentlemens lounge for some fine cigars , smalltalk and quaff a few of their favorire Bourbons, Scotches and Rums.

A hour has passed and right on schedule Mr. Cheney or Dick as his aquaintances refer to him slams a glass down and announces with his mouth totally crooked to one side " Gentlemen lets discuss the problems facing the common citizen. The one We are all here to serve.... Belch." After which they all decide to go out on a night hunt. :biting: :biting:

The birds aren't released from nets in front of the hunter. They are released the morning of the hunt into the fields. Leter the dogs track them down. It is still not as easy as some make out.

And you don't need a license on a private gave preserve. I have hunted quail many times at the Smith farm here in Florida, albeit many years ago but at that time you paid $500 and were allowed to shoot 6 birds. If you wanted more you had to tell them in advance so they could release more and they were (at the time) $3 each.

That is not nearly as much fun however as hunting them in the wild. I only went to the Smith farm because my friends from NY always wanted to go there.

QUAIL TOAST - CALIFORNIA STYLE

2 quail per person. 1 small to medium red onion, 2 cups sliced mushrooms, 1/4 cup butter or margarine, 1/2 cup white wine, All-purpose flour, pepper salt, 1 clove garlic, 2 slices thick sourdough toast per person.

Sprinkle the quail inside and out with a mixture of flour salt and pepper. Brown quail in large skillet with butter or margarine and grated garlic., Add mushrooms, sliced onion and wine, cover and let simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Stir and simmer for another 15 minutes uncovered. Serve quail on toast with sauce poured over quail.

Again the choice of wine is the key.

I see where Widdington has had a minor heart attack, and they are concerned that some of the bird-shot has migrated to risky areas of his body, near the heart.

I'm not sure if this was ever an appropriate subject for comedy monologues or politicians making hay.... but if it was, I would suggest that time is past.

Shot shell information

A 28 ga. shot shell with 7 1/2 shot has about 270 pellets per shell. Sounds like Cheney had him lined up pretty well at 30 yards.

Just saw that, Mur, you're right, this is getting serious.

How many posters have accidentally ran a stop sign, ran a red light, cut off someone in traffic, etc. If any have NEVER done any of the above, I would like to hear about it. A 5,000 pound car is a lot more deadly than birdshot.

Goodness gracious, do we demand perfection of everyone? When we are imperfect ourselves?

As far as Canadian laws go: 1)The reports I have read said Cheney was afield, not in a car. 2)Cheney had a license to hunt, he lacked the stamp for upland birds. This is a new regulation, in fact, the TPWD are not issuing citations for this infringement because it was not properly conveyed to the public. Only issuing warnings. 3)Was he careless? Perhaps. 4)He wasn't in Canada. Nor Mexico, England, Somalia, etc..........................

Get the message?
Amazing, splash (Kennedy) runs off a bridge in total darkness, his passenger dies, and he's branded a murder by our Con friends.

Old bird shot (Cheney) aimed his gun, pulled the trigger and shot his hunting companion who may die from his wounds, and our Con friends call it an accident. By the way, both waited many hours in order to sober up before reporting their dastardly deeds. One eyed jack Cons, ya gotta love um.

If the guy Cheney shot dies the VP could be charged with Manslaughter. The crime of Manslaughter is defined as a non criminal negligent act that results in the death of another. The issue will be was Cheney negligent?

Also it seems that Cheny's hunting partner was a woman, not his wife. However we can all rest easy as no doubt that between shooting fierce killer Quail the 2 of them were merely engaging in bible studies etc....

Remember it's only bad if a Democrat does it!!!!

I have already stated that this story is overblown, but I am curious.....would all you folks that say the media is picking on Dick feel the same way if it had been Clinton or Gore that had accidently shot a hunting companion?

Certainly.

It is the responsibility of the shooter to always know what what's in front of his weapon before pulling the trigger. This is not an "accident," but carelessness on Mr. Cheney's part.

Now, let me ask you the same general question: How do you think the conservatives would have responded if it was learned that Mr. Clinton was conducting wiretaps without a court order?

Just curious.

Still haven't seen a post from any poster who has never made a mistake.

BTW--Personally, I do not particularly care for Mr. Cheney.
