I think he already is an appointee. Not sure but seem to remember that being mentioned when this was first reported on Fox. One thing for sure, Whittington isn't a very good quail hunter. |

Reminds me of a joke I got a little while back via e-mail. The Pope was visiting Washington, D.C. and President Bush is taking him for a boat ride on the Potomac aboard the Presidential yacht, the Sequoia. While admiring the sights the Pope's hat (zucchetto) blows off and the secret service is about to launch a boat to retrieve it. President Bush waves them off and says, "Wait, don't do that, I'll take care of that, don't worry." He then steps off the yacht onto the water and proceeds to walk on the water and retrieves the Holy Father's hat. He walks back to the yacht, climbs back on the boat and hands the Pope his hat while the Pope stands in stunned silence. The next morning, the headlines in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Atlanta Constitution, Washington Post, Boston Herald, Buffalo News, Houston Chronicle, Milwaukee Sentinel-Journal, Minneapolis Tribune, Denver Post, Albuquerque Journal, Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Chronicle all proclaim: "Bush can't swim." |

Its a firearm. The responsibility is with the one pulling the trigger. So stupid to say "he didn't announce himself" or some such. Focus was on a bird and shooting a bird. As usual--failure to get the big picture before pulling the trigger. Common accident and I'm sure that's what is was. But for crying out loud, think of all the people around! He had to be aware. More so than a regular Joe. Makes it look like he just doesn't give a hoot. Me first attitude. I hate that. |

Goodness. it was an accident! I'm glad they were hunting quail, and not geese, smaller shot used. |

Actually Cheney thought it was a Congressional investigator with a subpoena. They now want to talk with the VP about the Scooter leak. No excuses EVER for a firearm accident. If you can't be safe don't use firearms. Ken |

Texas requires all hunters to hold a valid Texas hunting license, which requires passing a firearms safety class. I wonder if any reporter will ask Scotty McClellan about Cheney's hunting license. The victim in this accident is a Republican lawyer with close ties to Bush. And I'm with the people who say Cheney is at fault. The responsibility for safety lies with the one holding the trigger. Cheney screwed up, and I bet he feels bad about it. |

I still want to see a photocopy of his Texas hunting license. Wonder what will happen to him if he doesn't have one. I'm not sure he violated any law just by shooting a friend. This is Texas, after all, and accidents happen. But if he doesn't have a hunting license he could face some serious charges. We don't take kindly to poachers around here.

After having his face shot off the lawyer is wrong for not announcing himself.Wouldn't that make the birds they hold in cages for the great white hunters a little nervous..
