What I was saying and am still saying is, that for the faithful (who believe as the Bible/Jesus suggests about an afterlife), the belief in an afterlife remains a more hopeful, brighter promise for the future"..... hopeful/brighter than what might exist for them in the present. I've already explained this. The word that may be throwing you about my statement is "more." I mean it as more hope for a better, brighter existance (for the lack of a better word) in the "afterlife than what they might be experiencing in the present world (as Jesus promised) (as the "faithful" beleive). I do not mean "more" as in a more hopeful, brighter future than what others may experience because they don't happen to believe as the "faithful" may believe. I think that you are interpreting my "more" differently than I am meaning it which gives you the impression that I am being elitiest about my beliefs over someone elses. I believe it because I believe what Jesus has taught. I don't insist that anyone else believes that same way nor am I saying that they won't have a good afterlife or won't have any afterlife at all because they don't happen to believe as I or others believe, that's up to the individual and their beliefs. |

"a more hopeful, brighter promise" for the faithful for the future as compared to the present. OK. But what threw me was not the comparative "more" and "-er" ("brighter") but the comparison with "even though (afterlife) is claimed "mystical" by some". That's what i was interested in. But if you didn't mean that, OK. |
