The do's:

Please, please, please use spelling and grammar checks on your stories and poems! The best way to do this is to run it through a word processor such as Microsoft Word. This also gives you the ability to proofread your stories before you post them. Remember that proofreading and spellchecking are two different things. The following sentence would pass through Word without an issue: "Ewe sea their knot as good as wee think they R." Most computers, even Macs, have Word. You should have no excuse to be unable to run a spellcheck.

Even if you're afraid no one will like your work, post it anyway. You never know--maybe you did better that you thought you did. Regardless, there's bound to be someone who will like it.

Use constructive criticism. Telling someone they're a horrible writer, poet, artist, etc. is not going to help them improve and will only create more of a problem. Instead, try to tell them why you didn't like their work or how you think they could improve. This is far more helpful and will save the mods headaches.

Speaking of mods, be polite to them. For one, it's simply not nice to be mean to anyone, moderator or not. Secondly, the mods are the ones who have the power to warn or even ban people. Just use your common sense and be nice. Also, if you see someone breaking the rules or spamming, don't post and tell them they're doing something against the rules. Just click the report button and tell the mods.

Do read the rules to the individual forums. Some forums have specific rules:

Writing:
Stories
--Character Bios
Unfinished Stories
Short Stories
Story Contests
Poetry and Songwriting
Art:
Art Galleries
Art Shops
Art Contests
Role-Playing
Role Plays[/ur]
--RP Character Bios

The don'ts:

Don't swear, flame, dodge the word censors, or act like a jerk in general. No one likes that kind of person. Don't spam (meaning posting something that has nothing to do with the topic), either. It's just as annoying and can also be criteria for a warn if it's excessive enough. On that note, don't double post (post twice in a row without someone else posting in between your two posts. The only exception to this would be in the Story forum.

In general, we abide by a "three-strikes-you're-out" rule. If you spam/double post/etc. more than three times, you will get a warn.

Also included in the "spam" category is advertising (for shops, stories, other websites, and so on). Simply put, the only place for you to advertise is in your signature, not in your posts.

Don't steal someone else's work. Thievery is highly frowned upon and you will get a warn.

Don't have multiple usernames. You should only need one. Also, if you attempt to evade a ban by creating a new account with a different e-mail address, you will get an IP-ban. The only exception would be siblings or other people who use the same computer. That's the only reason one IP address should have more than one account.

No pornography or any inappropriate images of any sort. The image will be deleted and you will receive a warn. Also, no linking to any adult sites.

We are a tolerant site. Don't make racist comments, bash someone based on religion, culture and what have you. Depending on the severity of the comments, it can be criteria for a ban.

Follow the same rules in the c-box and do not abuse it. Do not swear in the c-box, no exceptions. Should you break a rule in the c-box, your forum account will get a warn.

Finally, if at all possible, avoid starting a topic in the wrong forum. The mods will move it, but if you read the rules for the specific forums, you probably won't have a problem.

*All rules are subject to change, but I'll try to post an announcement should something happen.*

If your eyes haven't glazed over yet, then have fun on Calling all Writers!
