Make them at least a little thought out. You can not start a new contest while you have another one running. Don't make the conditions for the contest ridiculously hard. (Hard, maybe. But not too hard.) Don't be biased when you judge. None of the rules you set are allowed to break the "Calling all Writers" rules. Rules must clarify: -date contest begins/ends -clear, specific rules for the contest -requirements for contest subject to change
