My hyper-active self was near the point of exploding. I yearned to fly, but the rain had made it near impossible. I had flown far from home about a week ago, but thanks to the rain, I found myself stranded. On impulse, I took off from the uninhabited cave, rain or no. I flew for hours, hoping I was going in the right direction. Rain soaked my wings, and I found it hard to find what direction I was going. I decreased my altitude so I was just skimming over the tops of the trees in the forest below. I squinted. Was that an elf? She wandered into a nearby cave. Just as I considered following her, the rain became too much for my wings and I plumeted to the ground, envying ducks' water resistance.
