Okay I have a reason for taking so long with this update…I had writer’s block…for a long time. Also I’ve been pretty busy, so here it is. ==================================== Chapter 10 Riveing walked out the doors of the pokecenter and began walking in the direction of Geenara’s stronghold. Team Magnum’s base of operations. ’So apparently all that was part of Geenara’s plan, huh?’ He thought. ’Well, then I’ll give him a tip for making me do his dirty work. I can’t believe I fell for this in the first place. I’ll wreck him! *Skipping the trip to the stronghold…* “Stop right there!” Shouted a man in a Team Magnum Executive’s uniform. Riveing glared at him, holding a pokeball. “Unless you want to be a pile of ashes, get out of the stronghold and don’t come back--it won’t be around anymore.” He said and the Executive thought for a second. “And what makes you so confident that threat’s going to work?” The Executive asked, taking a pokeball from his belt. “Because I can make it happen! Charizard, flamethrower!” Riveing shouted throwing his pokeball. Charizard came out with a flash of red energy and hit the man with a column of fire. Riveing recalled his pokemon and continued past the screaming Executive. “I did warn you.” He said as he walked past and continued through the halls. The various surveillance cameras monitored his every move. Thus, Geenara would know his every move. He eventually came upon a large room…on the other side stood Geenara, who looked far from happy. “So, you figured things out eh? Connected the ends?” He asked. “You think you’ve ruined my plans? In case you haven’t realized, I still have my finger on the trigger.” He said as the ceiling split away, to reveal an elevator shaft that seemed to go on for an eternity. Geenara pointed to a second smaller shaft. “You see that shaft? Your beloved family is in a cage, dangling miles above us. When I press the button, they’ll come crashing down…and we’ll go up, farther than the clouds, possibly into space. It all depends on how long it takes for me to put you out of your misery. Once the lift starts, it can’t be stopped. If we get to high, I’ll just go to the other world. If it weren’t for that meddling espeon and her partner, I’d still have you doing exactly as I planned. But personally, I’ve been waiting for this moment.” He said, with a smile. “What? The day when I waste you?” Was Riveing’s angry reply. “Oh, no…quite the opposite. It’s just a shame you won’t see your family again. Oh, yes. If you were wondering about your dear friend, Gus, he had a rather…” Geenara’s voice trailed off, as he searched for the words, “fatal, reaction.” He finished his sentence with a conceited grin. “Sometimes, you don’t know when to shut up.” Riveing said, grabbing a pokeball, from his belt. “You act like your tough, but you’re really just afraid to fight me, because you know you’ll lose.” “So, you want to skip straight to the slaughter? Fine then.” Geenara said and pressed the button. The floor began to rise and the cable leading down the smaller shaft swayed as the cage high above sped down it. “What are we waiting for, here?” Geenara asked, throwing a pokeball toward the middle of the lift. Riveing followed suite. On Geenara’s side: Pidgeot. On Riveing’s: Espeon. Geenara got the first attack off. “Pidgeot, quick attack!” Geenara shouted as Pidgeot lifted off the ground and rushed forward in a streak of white. Pidgeot made impact much too fast for Riveing or Espeon to react. “Alright Espeon, grab it and bring it to the ground with psychic!” Riveing shouted after Espeon recovered from Pidgeot’s attack, which had bowled it over. The jewel set in Espeon’s forehead glowed and Pidgeot stopped dead, then came crashing to the ground. “Pidgeot! Use swift!” Geenara shouted and Pidgeot aimed a shower of little white stars at Espeon. The stars broke Espeon’s concentration, while doing minimal damage, but it did damage none the less. “Now, use steel wing!” He added and Pidgeot once again took off from the ground and dove at Espeon, with it’s wings glowing a metallic white. “Look out!” Riveing shouted, as Espeon put itself back together. Pidgeot made impact, sending Espeon rolling backward. “Just hang in a little longer!” Espeon stopped itself and slid on it’s paws. Pidgeot was distracted, flying backward. “Now, use psychic beam!” Riveing called out and the jewel implanted on Espeon’s head once again glowed. It shot out a bright white and purple beam that made a direct hit on Pidgeot. Geenara grunted, with rage. He obviously couldn’t stand losing to Riveing. “Pidgeot! Fly!” Geenara shouted and Pidgeot miraculously got up and took off, out Espeon’s range. The fact that Pidgeot was still standing caught Riveing and Espeon by surprise. They both watched the sky, waiting for Pidgeot to come down. Soon it did, at a tremendous speed. Riveing didn’t do anything until he finally gave an order. “Now, Espeon! FREEZE FRAME!” He yelled and Espeon’s jewel gave off a soft ping, while expanding a white diamond outline. Pidgeot stopped dead, frozen in time, inches from Espeon’s face. “Great, now get out of the way and let it hit the ground.” Riveing said and Espeon stepped out of Pidgeot’s way, then put time for it, back in motion, causing Pidgeot to ram straight into the floor. This time it was down for the count. Geenara quickly recalled Pidgeot and replaced it with Umbreon. “Quickly, use bite!” Geenara shouted and Umbreon leapt forward, biting Espeon across the neck, for an instant KO, since Espeon had already been hit by a couple attacks. Riveing recalled Espeon and sent out Feraligatr. “Feraligatr, use slash!” Riveing commanded and Feraligatr began running at Umbreon on all fours. “Umbreon, faint attack.” Geenara said calmly. Umbreon fell to the ground, as Feraligatr rose up and slashed where it’s head had once been. Before Feraligatr could recover, Umbreon sprang up, nailing Feraligatr in the chest. “Now use dark blast!” Geenara added and Umbreon sent out a black circular wave that hit Feraligatr and exploded into purple and black electricity and flames. Feraligatr was sent sliding back to Riveing. “C’mon, we can do it.” Riveing said and Feraligatr slowly got up and wiped a streak of blood from it’s face. “Now then, dynamic uppercut!” Riveing exclaimed and Feraligatr took off on all fours, running much faster than usual. Before Geenara could react, it rose up, with an uppercut to Umbreon’s stomach, launching it into the air. “Now use slash!” Riveing added and Feraligatr swung it’s hand down, scratching Umbreon with it’s sharp claws, sending it back to the ground. “Use dark blast again!” Geenara shouted and Umbreon sent out the familiar circle of black that exploded into the purple and black electricity. This time, Feraligatr stopped itself and quickly got up. Feraligatr can’t take another his like that… Riveing thought, looking at Feraligatr, who was breathing heavily. “Alright, let’s finish this, Feraligatr! Savage charge!” Riveing commanded and Feraligatr rushed toward Umbreon on all fours, with it’s mouth wide open. The two made contact and Feraligatr bit down on Umbreon, as hard as it could. “Umbreon, use one last dark blast!” Geenara yelled and within seconds a black and purple explosion of smoke, fire and electricity replaced Umbreon and Feraligatr. When it all cleared away, Feraligatr and Umbreon were nowhere to be seen, but there was a large dent in the lift. Tears filled Riveing’s eyes. “I guess you’re going to take my pokemon from me, too, aren’t you? That’s exactly what you want, isn’t it?” Riveing asked, glaring at Geenara. “My family’s already dying and now your taking the only friends I have left…YOU’RE A MONSTER!” He yelled, taking two pokeballs from his belt. “You have absolutely no idea how long and how hard I’d worked to save my family! I spent years training my pokemon and they were my best friends. Now you aren’t satisfied with my family--you want to kill my pokemon too…It’s the end of the line for you! I’M NOT LETTING YOU LEAVE THIS PLACE ALIVE!!!” Riveing yelled, throwing the pokeballs, releasing Ampharos and Mightyena. They could feel Riveing’s feelings and had noticed the loss of Feraligatr. His pokemon were just as ticked as Riveing was. Geenara fearfully sent out his next two pokemon: Venasaur and Gaburaisu--a pokemon Riveing didn’t recognize. |
