Chapter 9 “What do you want?” Riveing asked, emotionlessly, as he looked at the espeon and mightyena that blocked his path. The two pokemon looked at each other, then back to him. Espeon spoke. “We want to help.” It said. “You can expect Jason to come after you.” Added Mightyena. “He doesn’t have a weakness. He’s invincible in the pokemon state he invokes, with that needle.” Continued Espeon. Riveing listened, without much emotion on his face. “I’d expect at least a slight smile, from you. After all, you do want revenge, do you? We have a common goal. If we work together--” “This isn’t about revenge.” Riveing said, coldly. “I have a family to rescue. That’s something I can do on my own.” He added and began walking down the path, going past the two pokemon. “Or so you say…” Mightyena mumbled. Riveing stopped and looked back at them. “Clear your head-- it’s too clouded by your emotions. If you can’t think clearly, chances are, you’ll fail.” It added. “It’s true.” Espeon said, still looking ahead of itself. “If Gus hadn’t shown up, when he did, where’d you be? Lying back in that field. Dead, perhaps? Though you may not think it, you’ve been aided countless times. You can’t battle, without your pokemon. That counts as being helped, in the book.” “Big deal.” Riveing said. “You won’t be able to defeat Geenara with just four pokemon. Chances are, whoever is talking to you about the pokemon you need, is lying. In fact, that voice is Geenara’s.” Mightyena said. At that, Riveing spun around. “I know the sound of Geenara’s voice, when I hear it.” He said. “Even so, the space you are put in, changes minor aspects, that ultimately, give his voice a drastic change. It’d be possible for a man to speak in that space and sound like a woman.” Espeon said. “He is leading you into a trap. There are no keys, just his stronghold. If you bring those keys to his stronghold, you’d be making a fatal mistake.” It added, turning to look at him. “Those discs contain the power source for a device that can warp time and space, itself. If you keep this course, you’ll be the on who’s to blame for the utter downfall of the universe.” Mightyena said, in a dark tone. “If we hadn’t come, then you might have fallen into this trap. You need us, whether you like it or not…we know every fault in his plan.” It added. Riveing thought everything over, intensely. “Are you taking us, or not?” It asked, impatiently. Riveing silently held out two spare pokeballs and captured the two willing pokemon. “God I hope they’re right.” Riveing said to himself. “What, you don’t trust them?” Firingo’s voice asked. “Well, I don’t know who I should trust at this point. I’ll go with their idea and skip straight to Geenara’s base.” Riveing answered, putting the two pokeballs, with the rest. “But I’m not about to go there with only half my pokemon conscious.” He added, continuing down the path. *In Geenara’s stronghold* “So what’s your plan for world domination, this time?” Gus asked. He’d been chained to a chair, on the other side of Geenara’s desk. “I can tell you, whatever it is, this time you’ll--” Geenara cut him off. “Oh, I don’t plan to rule this world…I intend to destroy it. After all these years, my research has finally paid off. I’ve found a way to travel into another existence--not just a mere universe, but an entirely different dimension, in a way. I don’t need this world, so why not just destroy it?” Geenara asked, smiling. “You see, I have your friend on my side. He’s doing everything, just as I planned. Once he brings the power source for my bomb, well…you get the rest.” He said, not waiting for an answer. “I can’t believe you.” Gus said. “Only a mind like yours could come up with such evil plans. I’m sure glad Riveing didn’t follow in your footsteps. Chances are, he’s figured it out and is coming over right now!” He exclaimed. Geenara laughed. “You actually believe he’s onto me? I’ve set the perfect plan in motion. Those pokemon I’ll give him, once he has all eight…are clones of legendaries, genetically modified to be as weak as possible. When he gets the pokemon and comes after me, it’ll be over rather quickly. Besides, I always have a backup. I also have his family. If he doesn’t bring the power, then his family dies. He’ll be ruined if that happened. If he brings the power, then he’ll get his family back, because I won’t be around to see the fireworks.” Geenara said, grimly. “By the way, I have something you might be interested in…” He added, his voice trailing off, as he took a needle from his desk drawer. Gus struggled against the chains, but quickly realized he had no way to escape. “You’re a mad man.” Gus said under his breath, as he sat there. “Oh, don’t worry--it’s completely painless. Besides, I could use another Super Magnum.” Geenara said, looking at him. ---------- There...all nine current chapters of the story...now to work on number ten... |
