Chapter 5 Heatstroke chuckled. “That’s exactly what I thought you’d do!” He exclaimed with a grin. “Secret is, that’s my only pokemon, but get this! That’s all I’ll need, to beat all of yours!” He added, pointing at Riveing, who just raised an eyebrow. “You see, even though it’s a magmar, I can use this device to modify it.” “A mirage pokemon? Or is it just the product of another twisted Team Magnum experiment?” Riveing asked, tensely. ‘If what he’s saying is true, then I really can’t beat him, unless I figure out how to DESTROY him AND the pokemon at once…’ Riveing thought to himself, while glaring at Heatstroke. “A little of both.” Heatstroke said cockily. “You first.” He said, smiling his face off. “Fine, then. Feraligatr, use hydro pump!” Riveing shouted and Feraligatr opened it’s mouth and shot a large column of water. “That’s it? Magmar, electroflect!” Shouted Heatstroke and Magmar began to glow with a yellow light. “Feraligatr, watch out!” Riveing shouted, as Riveing saw what the attack would do. “Huh?” Feraligatr asked, looking back. Riveing his hand over his face. “Pay attention to the battle, not me!” He shouted and as Feraligatr, turned back to the fight, it’s hydro pump hit Magmar and bounced back, hitting Feraligatr, instead. After wards, from the water that splashed away, lightning shot up and came down on Feraligatr. Heatstroke laughed at them. “Is that really your best? You must have cheated your way to the top all the time.” Heatstroke shouted. “Shut up! Let’s see how you like this one! Feraligatr, let’s try out that new move!” Riveing shouted and Feraligatr jumped into the air and opened it’s mouth again. What shot from it was a small water ball. Heatstroke looked at it and blinked, then burst out in laughter. “That’s your secret move? Just a little raindrop? That’s rich!” He screamed doubled over on the ground. “Looks are deceiving…” Riveing said, taking a small orb out of his pocket and throwing it to the ground. It formed a barrier around him. The almost unnoticeable drop of water hit Magmar and let off a loud roar. A few seconds afterward, the drop, which had not evaporated, expanded into a ten foot ball of water and burst, sending water everywhere. The barrier pushed the water away from Riveing, leaving him almost completely dry. The barrier disappeared, with the water. Riveing, Feraligatr, a wet and angry Heatstroke, along with an unfazed magmar were all in the area. Heatstroke jumped up, sopping wet. “Magmar, use solar beam!” Heatstroke shouted, pointing at Feraligatr. With that, Magmar sent a solar beam Feraligatr’s way. Feraligatr was much too slow to dodge the unusually fast attack and was knocked out. “You’re the real cheater, Heatstroke.” Riveing said, recalling Feraligatr into it’s pokeball. “Seeing as whatever pokemon I use, you’ll have an attack to counter it.” Riveing added, taking a second pokeball, while putting Feraligatr’s back where it was. “But now I’ve figured things out.” He threw the pokeball. “Dragonite, use hyper beam on the tower!” Riveing shouted and as Dragonite appeared, it shot an orange beam of energy into the tower Heatstroke was in. The tower tipped a bit toward the lava pool behind it. “Gah! Magmar, use ice beam!” Heatstroke shouted, grabbing the railing on the top of the tower. Magmar shot out a beam of white blue energy, which turned into ice, when it hit something. “Dodge it!” Riveing commanded and Dragonite moved out of the way. Riveing found that he had to move as well, to avoid the attack. “Use dragon breath on the tower!” Riveing shouted and dragonite shot a ball of orange energy from it’s mouth, but Magmar incinerated it, with a pillar of fire. “Magmar, use ice beam, one more time!” Heatstroke shouted. “I’m tired of all these illogical attacks! Dragonite, use hyper beam on the trainer!” Riveing shouted and Dragonite looked back at him, hesitantly. “It’s the only way WE’LL get out alive.” Riveing said, looking at Dragonite. Dragonite turned back around and used hyper beam. Heatstroke found himself trapped on top of the tower, as the attack came his way. The beam slammed into him, knocking him off the tower, screaming as he fell into the lava. The ice beam from Magmar hit Dragonite and knocked it out. “You did the right thing.” Riveing said, quietly, returning Dragonite to it’s pokeball. He looked back to where Magmar was and saw that it had disappeared when Heatstroke died. ‘But where’s the key?’ Riveing thought to himself, looking around. “Looking for this?” A familiar voice asked, from behind. Riveing turned around, to see Jason. He was holding the second key to Geenara‘s hideout. “Well, you’re not getting it!” He shouted, grabbing a pokeball from his belt. “Go, Scyther!” Jason shouted, throwing the pokeball. “What? Rayquaza didn’t make the cut?” Riveing asked, reaching for his third pokeball. He stopped reaching for the third pokeball and decided he wasn’t in the right spot for a battle with Jason. He only had half of his pokemon and Jason might have another extra pokemon he’d gotten since the last time they met, not to mention, he only had half a battle field. “It’s a shame, but I gotta run.” Riveing said, dashing up to Jason and snatching the key from him, then running out of the base, waving the Frisbee-like disc of a key. He was surprised that neither Scyther or Jason had bothered chase after him. Riveing decided not to think about it and made his way, back into town. (in the pokecenter) “About time you showed up.” Kiero said, walking over to Riveing. “You know how many people came in here, looking for autographs?” He asked. “I don’t think I want to know.” Riveing said, walking to the front desk. “Maybe I should find some magical way to make myself look like a different person.” He added, taking the two darkened pokeballs off his belt. “Oh, yeah, some guys in black suits ran in and kidnapped Nurse Joy.” Kiero said, like it was something normal. “And you didn’t bother stop them!?” Riveing asked, in amazement. He found it hard to believe that Kiero was his son, by how he acted. |
