Chapter 3 Kiero and Crocanaw watched as Riveing and Jason glared at each other. He’d heard, from his mother, that Riveing and Jason were friends, for nearly sixteen years. “You can do it, Dad.” Kiero whispered under his breath. A few minutes passed and Jason lost his patience first. “Machamp, use cross chop!” Jason called out and Machamp ran forward, straight at Charizard, with it’s arms out. “Dodge it, Charizard!” Riveing shouted and Charizard jumped away, just in time, to avoid Machamp’s attack. “Great! Now use flamethrower!” Riveing called out and instead of the usual flamethrower, a shower of tiny crystals shot from Charizard’s mouth and smashed into Machamp. The attack was more effective than flamethrower, though. “Let’s just call that one, crystal shot.” Riveing said, slightly distracted. So was Charizard and Jason realized that. “While they’re distracted, Machamp! Use vital throw!” Jason shouted and Machamp, snapped out of it’s daze and threw Charizard, clear across the room, smashing it into a wall. “Can you still fight?” Riveing asked Charizard, who nodded, rather than saying anything. “It’s our turn, now! Charizard, use fireball!” Riveing shouted and Charizard’s right hand began to glow. Seconds later, a ball of bright light appeared in it and caught fire. Machamp and Jason were too busy wondering what the attack would do, to try and stop it. Ten seconds passed, then Jason figured it out, but was too late. Charizard threw the bright ball of fire and it smashed into Machamp’s face, knocking it over. Machamp slowly got up, after several seconds. “Machamp, try and use cross chop one more time!” Jason yelled and Machamp ran forward, faster than ever. “Charizard, try and punch it, with fireball!” Riveing shouted and Charizard went through the same sequence, but instead, waited until Machamp was close enough and punched it, with the fireball. Machamp happened to be using cross chop as Charizard punched it. Machamp didn’t hit it’s target though, instead it hit the fireball, causing it to explode, knocking them both out. “That didn’t turn out as planned, but you still did great, Charizard.” Riveing said, recalling Charizard, into it’s pokeball. Jason already had his next pokemon out, a steelix. Riveing put Charizard’s pokeball and threw the next. “Let’s do it, Feraligatr.” Riveing shouted, throwing the pokeball. “What? Wouldn’t Dad use Charizard, if he could? Steelix is a steel type, I don’t see the advantage he has.” Riveing said to himself. “Think.” Crocanaw suddenly said to him. Kiero stared at it. “Use your head. Steelix is the evolved form of Onix, so Steelix is half rock. Big bro’s gonna wipe the floor with Steelix, just watch.” Kiero couldn’t tell whether his mind was talking to him, through a hallucination of his crocanaw, or if Crocanaw was actually talking. “Let’s get this over with, use hydro pump!” Riveing shouted and Feraligatr shot a column of water, that hit Steelix in the face, stunning it. “One more time, Feraligatr.” Riveing said and Feraligatr did it again, causing Steelix to faint. “Ugh! I’ve had enough of that stupid smile of yours, when you’re winning!” Jason yelled, recalling Steelix. “Go! Ampharos!” He shouted, throwing a pokeball, that released as mentioned above. “Now, use thunder punch!” Jason shouted and Ampharos punched Feraligatr, with a fist full of lightning, knocking it out instantly. Riveing recalled Feraligatr, saying something, in a low voice, that only he could hear, then threw another pokeball. “Show ‘em who’s boss, Sceptile!” Riveing shouted as Sceptile was released, from the pokeball. “Use razor leaf!” Riveing shouted and Sceptile threw several knife-like leaves, knocking Ampharos around, a bit. “Come one, Ampharos, get it together!” Jason said and Ampharos managed to get rid of the tormenting leaves. “Okay, use thunder shock!” Jason shouted and Ampharos zapped Sceptile, doing little damage. “What the--” Riveing interrupted Jason’s sentence. “Grass types have an advantage over electric types. Not all advantages and disadvantages are obvious.” Riveing said, with a smile. “Now, use bullet seed, Sceptile!” Riveing shouted, pointing at Ampharos. Sceptile shot a storm of golden, glowing seeds, that pelted Ampharos continuously. A short time later, Ampharos fainted and Sceptile stopped spitting seeds. Jason recalled Ampharos and looked at the one pokeball he had left, then smiled. “I never thought I’d wind up using this one! Go, Rayquaza!” Jason shouted, throwing his last pokeball. Riveing froze in the position he was, about to throw Dragonite’s pokeball. “I’m going to run you into the ground!” Jason shouted, half laughing. Kiero’s heart felt as if it stopped, when he saw Rayquaza. “How in the world, did he catch Rayquaza? There’s only one in the world and it’s supposed to be unbeatable…unless.” Riveing said to himself and looked at the pokeball Jason was holding. It was a master ball. “Now wonder!” He said, glaring at Jason. “Don’t get too cocky.” Riveing said, throwing Dragonite’s pokeball. “Just because you have a legendary pokemon, doesn’t mean you’re invincible!” He shouted, pointing at Jason. “We’ll see about that.” Jason said. “Hyper beam!” He shouted and Rayquaza shot the biggest hyper beam Riveing had ever seen. It was roughly four times the size of Dragonite’s own. “Dodge it!” Riveing shouted and Dragonite got out of the way, just in time. The attack hit the ground, just missing Riveing’s feet. He took several steps back, in hopes of avoiding being hit, by a stray attack. “Quick! While it’s recharging, use dragon rage!” Riveing shouted and Dragonite began to glow with a red aura, as it appeared to become enraged. Seconds later, it released a red beam, that doubled itself and hit Rayquaza head on, not seeming to do much damage. Riveing and Dragonite were in for a tough battle. “We’ve still got some time! Use spirit charge!” Riveing shout and Dragonite radiated a light blue aura, that didn’t do much. “Come on! Use hyper beam again!” Jason shouted and Rayquaza attack with the same hyper beam. “Dodge it, like before!” Riveing shouted and Dragonite flew out of the way. “Now use spirit charge again!” Riveing added. The same process repeated itself for ten hyper beam attacks. “What do you think that lame spirit charge attack is going to do?” Jason yelled at Riveing, with Dragonite, who was breathing heavily, standing beside him. “All it’s doing is tiring Dragonite out!” Dragonite’s blue aura flared up, into a bright white one, that blinded Jason and Riveing, for several seconds. As soon as Riveing’s eyes adjusted, he took a few steps back and pointed at Rayquaza. “Spirit charge magnifies Dragonite’s strength times three, every time it’s used…meaning Dragonite’s strength is five hundred thirty one thousand and four hundred forty one times the strength it had when this fight first started! That’s way more than enough to deal with Rayquaza!” Riveing, who was now fifty feet away from Dragonite, exclaimed. “What?” Jason asked, shocked by what Riveing said. “That’s just a lie! Nothing can be that powerful!” “Whoever said Dragonite could be that powerful and withstand it?” Riveing asked. “Dragonite’s bound to faint after this attack, but I share a special bond with my pokemon. One you’ll never have. I know this is what Dragonite wants me to do, so I will…Dragonite, use white flame!” Riveing shouted and Dragonite opened it’s mouth, then two seconds later, out came the attack. It was a pillar of pure white fire, that spread out, over one hundred feet, from on side, to the other. The fire bleached out the entire room and nobody could see anything. A little after ten seconds later, the fire stopped and the room returned to normal. Riveing found Dragonite, on the ground, next to him, conscious, but hardly. “Did we win?” Dragonite asked him and Riveing looked over to where Rayquaza was. It was lying on the ground, out cold. “Yeah.” Riveing said quietly, as Dragonite fainted and Riveing recalled it. “I wonder what would have happened, if I didn’t have the ability to know what pokemon are saying.” Riveing said to himself, as he walked over to where Jason was. He was out cold, as well, with a blue disc sticking out, from under his vest. Riveing bent down and took the disc. “That’s key number one.” “That was amazing!” Kiero screamed, running out of the hallway, he’d watched the entire fight from, with Crocanaw right behind him. |
