PROJECT DYSTOPIA![]() Welcome to Project Dystopia! Project Dystopia is a roleplaying game set on the fictional planet Maxfrica. Here, the players take the positions of important government officials, military generals, or rebels attempting to overthrow the government. Project Dystopia is a simple roleplaying game, with few rules. The most important rule is no godmodding; stay within the limits of your character. The powers of each character should be fairly obvious. Maxfrica, A History Maxfrica was one of the first planets outside of the Milky Way settled by the Terran Federation. The first group of settlers were convicts the Interplanetary Council agreed that the Terran Federation could no longer afford. Maxfrica was chosen as a suitable location as a penal colony because of its jagged and rough terrain, which was discovered to have a huge abundance of precious minerals and metal ores. Maxfrica is a harsh planet. A hot sun bakes the ground during the day, and freezing winds are the norm once night falls. Rough, rocky terrain and sparse vegetation outside the forests of Maxfrica prevent much life above the surface. Because of the harsh environment, most colonists are forced to wear a breathing mask in the exposed outside air. Maxfrica City is constructed mostly under the surface to keep away from the elements. It wasn't until the discovery of huge deposits of minerals and metal ores that the Alpha Mining Corporation took an interest in Maxfrica. An Alpha Mining representative met with the leadership of the Terran Federation, and a deal was brokered out that left the corporation with a total monopoly on mining the planet Maxfrica. The Alpha Mining Corporation began constructing a huge mining facility doubling as a settlement for the colonists dubbed as 'Maxfrica City.' Originally little more than a small mining camp with a number of dormitories, it became essentially a functional city over a period of time. An overseer acts as the mayor of Maxfrica City. In recent times, however, Alpha Mining Corporation executives have been facing rising crime, increasing discontent and outright disobedience from the miners. Extreme measures have been taken by the Alpha Corporation Security Service to keep order in the city. Routine troublemakers trying to stir up hostility towards the corporation and the overseer are exiled to the badlands of Maxfrica. Other offenders find themselves locked up in Maxfrica City's penal facilities. Though a temporary measure, the action of exiling troublemakers to the outside world of Maxfrica has had long-term effects. Armed bands of rebellious outcasts routinely hijack shipments of goods, and ambush security patrols. Though widely dispersed and unorganized, the exiled fugitives pose a serious threat to the stability of Maxfrica City. Factions Alpha Mining Corporation: A corporation that trades in mined ore. The Alpha Mining Corporation holds a monopoly on the mining operations taking place on Maxfrica. The Overseer is the leader of Maxfrica City. OPEN POSITIONS: Chairman, Overseer, Federation Ambassador Alpha Mining Corporation Security Service: The police force of Maxfrica City, answer to the Overseer. OPEN POSITIONS: Security Chief Maxfrican Rebels: Convicts and miners that have escaped into the Maxfrican wilds. They now live off the land and by occasionally raiding supplies from the Alpha Mining Corporation. OPEN POSITIONS: Rebels Old City Gang: The top dogs of the seedy underworld of Maxfrica City. They have their hands in any dealings that smell anything like profit. OPEN POSITIONS: Crime Boss Edited by KamikazeCow, 15 Nov 2010, 09:56 PM.

Alpha Mining Corporation....COPYRIGHT INFRI....I guess I never trademarked it. But ya I think I will go for the Mining Corp. Also at the end of your second paragraph it look as though you were cut off, all it has is "Miners".

I need help fleshing it out. Here's the underground city of Port Wilder.![]() I might make it a purely mining colony though, just for the benefit of the RP. Edited by KamikazeCow, 9 Nov 2010, 11:17 PM.

First word of advice is use full sentences. My second would be that the the mining corp should have a monopoly, and is having a change of leadership. And of course mining should probably be extremely important to the economy. Your decision is whether to make the corporation a "galactic" one with investments off planet or one that primarily operates on planet. |

I would have to think that Mayor is backed by the federation or at the very least is not openly opposing it. Unless that is the real reason the marines are there May make it more interesting.

I meant more along the lines of elected by the residents (sham election or not) or appointed by the Federation, bypassing democracy entirely |

At the risk of undermining Cow's vision, maybe you could decide so that you can alter it to your own needs. |

The mayor is/can be in cahoots with the Alpha Corp. I'm revising the background history a bit to reflect this fact. |

Alpha Corp is an independent company. Edited the background/factions a little bit. Think of the Maxfrican rebels as Australian bushrangers. |
