Well everyone, I have several announcements to make. CCRPG IV First and foremost, I know you are all anxious to hear about the Interim Version of CCRPG. I assure you that is still our primary focus here and will be the first to be fully completed. Contingent upon Deadhead's schedule, we expect to have it released by early November. We have made significant progress on the game's coding, and all that is left to do is to finish the income system and some finishing touches. The IV should be more or less fully automated and will follow the basic game rules that I have already outlined [see http://cciv.grassr00ts.com/rules.php]. It is NOT going to be the ultrarealistic, ultracomplex, and ultraawesome version that we have all made plans for ultimately (see below). Instead it will be focused on optimal playability, ease of access, and a speedy release. All else remaining equal, CCRPG IV will be the end of the CCRPG line. Obviously many decisions are to be made in the future regarding this, and we will continue to upgrade and patch the IV version to make it optimally playable, fun, and challenging. CCRPG+ CCRPG IV is not the end of the CCRPG game, but it will be the end of the line known as "Country Capital RPG" (I always hated the name). The "future" version, the true version that we have placed all of our long-term focus on in terms of developing will not be affiliated with CCRPG. Until further notice, I have titled the future CCRPG version as "PoliConomy." PoliConomy may or may not be a direct subsidiary of GrassR00Ts [see below]. Right now, I think it is likely that it will be. But it will NOT be affiliated with CCRPG IV. The reasons for this are that while CCRPG IV is semi-realistic and a useful educational tool, it is primarily a strategy game. Of course the latter is true for PoliConomy, but it is going to be the most realistic simulation ever conceived, and will have tremendous value for those seeking to experience and practice politics, economics, sociology, or any other social science. The inner workings of the free market, government, and public opinion will be revealed to the player. No realistic venture is spared. Again, we will be updating CCRPG IV in parallel with PoliConomy, but we will spare the ultrarealitic upgrades and elements for CCRPG, as they will be the main component of PoliConomy. Project GrassR00Ts GrassR00Ts, the project I initially conceived a year ago to expand upon CCRPG and encompass it, is getting a fresh perspective. First of all, it will not be associated in any way with CCRPG. They will affiliate and network, however CCRPG IV will not be an official subsidiary of GrassR00Ts. They will be entirely separate entities with separate forums, websites, and communities. I have been developing the GrassR00Ts Website and planning out all of the features. To repeat, GrassR00Ts will have its own membership base entirely independent of CCRPG, its own forum independent of CCRPG, etc. Allow me to list the major services of GrassR00Ts:
Immediate Changes So how does this affect everyone? Well, there are a number of things to mention. GrassR00Ts itself is not yet finished, however we will begin implementing the services (namely the forum) as early as tomorrow. Do you have to join GrassR00Ts? Absolutely not, I am not forcing anyone to be a member of GrassR00Ts [unlike before where I tried to integrate CCRPG and GrassR00Ts into one place/forum]. If you are interested in politics and debate, and approve of our mission statement, then you are welcome aboard. We will be releasing more information on GrassR00Ts in the coming days. However, I will post a link to the new GrassR00Ts forum tomorrow. CCRPG will be structured differently as well. I will be removing the Politics, History, and Media boards from the forum. We will be keeping General Discussion and the Social board for casual talk and discussion. All things political and discussion oriented will be featured on GrassR00Ts. This, again, is to keep the gaming element separate from the debate and political nature of GrassR00Ts. I will also be reorganizing the staff for CCRPG (as it is currently a confused hybrid of GR/CC structure). The IV will be arriving shortly, and will be more automated so there is less need for an expansive board here. The forum URLs will also change. CCRPG's URL of http://z8.invisionfree.com/CCRPG will always work, but the main domain shall become http://forum.countrycapitalrpg.com. GrassR00Ts' new forum will be http://forum.grassr00ts.com, which currently points to this forum, hence the need to announce the change. These changes will be made slowly in the coming days, so as not to overwhelm everyone and risk destroying this community. Anyway, I would like to thank everyone for their support and their patience in the awkward and confusing times that we live in. I would also love to hear comments and suggestions, and hope to see a decent amount of you on GrassR00Ts! -Ryan |
