Who the hell said Obama gets a peace prize? And what the fuck has he done so far that actually has helped the world towards peace, then again, after Gore got one for fighting against a made up problem completely unrelated to world peace, what can we expect?

And seriously, who the fuck has so little to do they can make that video?

"I will get us out of Afghanistan and not increase troops."

DAY ONE Obama kills Pakistani children.

Anyone who believes he deserves this is committing at best a mockery of peace and at worst a crime against humanity.

The official (I think) reason for Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize is for his efforts "to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." Whether it was deserved or not, that's not up to me to judge. I mean, I wouldn't go as far as to say this is a mockery of peace or anything, since that is a bit too radical for me. He has opened up many doors for peace, though those doors have not yet been walked through. I hope he one day lives up to this award, though that seems like a very hard thing to do as the president of the most militarized nation in the world....

Eh, I find it questionable. Nobel Prizes should be for things done, not things being promoted. ;)

Regardless, I am going to take this moment to brag that my prez has this award and the rest of the world don't :o

Promoting peace is doing something.... He is working for peace, which is something that many of the past Laureates have won for. However, I do believe that this was premature, though I suppose it was sort of to prove a point. I mean, there are probably many people on the Nobel Committee who are hoping that this will keep Obama in line and make him do what he has promised, seeing as how he now has to live up to his Nobel Prize.

Why did Obama win the Nobel Peace Prize? because the rest of the world fawns all over him, like three quarters of this country used to. Thank God that phase is just about over here.

Anyway, promoting peace is something.... but what has he done with it? Open talks with Tehran? Please, he continues to say that the military option is on the table, and he's supported sanctions on countries that refuse to bow to the United States. Sanctions prevent food and medicine, among other goods, from entering these countries from the US. Many years of sanctions led to the animosity of the people of Iraq and Iran to the US Government.

You know, it is interesting that Nobel said in his will that one consideration for the committee for the Peace Prize is whether or not an individual has succeeded in the reduction or abolition of standing armies - yet at the same time, Obama has not even advocated for stopping the planned increase in military personnel in the Army and Marine Corps (the only reason his advocating for something or not in this instance is because his advocating for "peace" is the only thing that got him the award).

EDIT: Also, it is ironic that Obama - on the very day it was announced he won the Noble Peace Prize for this year - became the first world leader to launch a missile at the moon. Thankfully, it quickly surrendered realizing that it had no way of defeating the US military - unfortunately, we made the same mistake as in Iraq and quickly abolished its military and police.

 Shooting a "missile" at the moon is scientific, not militaristic...

As for your previous statement about abolishing armies, think of it this way: if Obama made some sort of decision to decrease the size or altogether abolish the standing army of the USA, do you think he would last long in office? Hell no. He would be impeached and hung out to dry. What he is trying to do is abolish nuclear weapons and cease nuclear proliferation, which is something the whole world can currently agree on (well, mostly). In this day and age this is something that Nobel would see as a worthy action in the interest of peace.
