Well, I've decided to jump back into NationStates, limited at least, with a couple new nations. However, the one I will showcase here is "The Community of Country Capital." There's no link, just search it if you want to see it. I've created based on the communal beliefs of everyone here (or my opinion of them), and I will solve issues based on your answers, aka community rule. Every one I get, I'll post here, and you decide. Anyone wanna participate? First Issue: Should Democracy Be Compulsory? The Issue In response to a slow news week, certain highbrow newspapers have stirred up the debate over voluntary vs compulsory voting. The Debate "Compulsory voting makes about as much as sense as having the death penalty for attempted suicide," says civil rights activist Gregory Longbottom. "You can't force people to be free! You can only give them the choice. Besides, if all those derelicts who can't be bothered to get off their butts once every few years voted, who would they elect? I shudder to think." "It's not contradictory at all," argues political commentator Calvin Winters. "The fact is, if not everyone votes, the outcome isn't truly representative. Some groups--like elderly gun nuts--vote more often than others. That's why we always end up with such terrible politicians." "This raises an interesting issue," says Thomas Nagasawa, your brother. "And that is: why do we need elections, anyway? Seems to me it would be much simpler if you just decided what was right, and did it. Wouldn't that save everyone a lot of time?" |

I find NationStates leaves alot to be desired. Primarily that many of the options to issues don't include options I would take. |

Nationstates' failure to provide me with a fun experience directly caused me to make CCRPG. So be glad it sucks!

I don't think it should be compulsory, at least not without an option to vote for none of the above or an ability to call for new candidates. Otherwise, it's it's not a good representation. |

Compulsory. Give them freedom even if we have to shove it down their throats! |

That's what we do in Australia, and let me tell you as someone who has worked at a polling station alot of people seem to vote on the most idiotic ideas, and I'm not talking about ideological principles here, I mean just plain stupid stuff. |

I would prefer myself as the totalitarian ruler. I may not rule benevolently but I will rule as a God. |

Alright, Option 3 wins. Next: Country Capital's TV soaps--famous around the region--have come under fire for their lack of ethnic diversity. The Debate 1. "Every night my family and I sit down to watch 'The Brash and the Backstabbing'," says Beth Jong-Il. "But where are the Lilliputians like myself? Where are the Bigtopians? The Marche Noirians? People from those cultures can be just as brash and backstabbing, but we never see them on the screen. The government must act to remove this silent apartheid from our TV screens." 2. "Those Lilliputians don't know how good they have it," says Larry Longfellow, spokesperson for the Tasmanians Against Ethnic Stereotyping. "Tasmanians are on television all the time, but always in crude, stereotypical roles. The answer is not to enforce ethnic quotas, but to award government prizes for the positive portrayal of minorities. That'll work better, and be cheaper, too." 3. "The government should do what now?" says TV studio executive Buy Bush. "You've got to be kidding. We make soaps here, not documentaries. I should be able to put whichever characters I want into my shows. Quotas! Government prizes! God save me! Hasn't the government got anything better to do? Why don't they just back off and let society work out these things on its own?" |

Option 3 FTW! Anyway you people just have to accept the fact that you won't be totalitarian dictators..... because I will be leader and I will create State Security Force to arrest and sumarily execute all dissidents (or you'll be sent to the acid mines) |
