This poster makes more sense to me than about 90% of the protest posters I saw protesting against Bush. |

Well the posters I mostly saw are that Bush is a Nazi and that he, and Dick Cheney, were responsable for 9/11. |

Or, you know, he could have been living in Australia where people probably did not protest Bush (at least not as much) and thus did not have to see the Bush-era protest posters.

That's not a poster, and I did say "At least not as much". By posters I meant more like the above posted image of Obama, or the Hitler/Bush "Same shit, different asshole" protest poster. |

Uhm, yeah, don't know if you know this, but even in Canada I had better things to do then watch news about Bush. I also did not say to myself "Oh hey, I'm going to go look on the net and find protest posters of Bush!" No. Sorry. |

[size0]I do agree with Ares. We didn't all search the net for Bush... most of my class actually got bored of Bush and didn't pay attention to him or anything related with him. |

Smart Australians? I think not. Why? Well quite simply Australia is a very small nation. For all our size and resources we only have population of 21,000,000 people. Furthermore whilst we are good at the raw materials and agriculture sector, we aren't that big at the heavy industrial sector. We ship all our minerals and agriculture to nations like China and then import the refined products from those same nations. Thus our Foreign policy, due to our lack of power, has been based around this idea that is sometimes known as "big and powerful friends". From Federation until 1942 this was Britain. The Royal Navy's Fleet would defend our shores. Then in 1942 Singapore fell and the invincibility of the Royal Navy disapated. This was when we turned to America. Since then we have, in a sense, been a support base for America. We have volunteered our Military forces to help the US whenever we can, which is why we went to Vietnam. This is also why we went to Iraq and Afghanisatian. We help the US in the implicit understanding that if Australia is threatened we can count on the United States to help support us. Anyway it seems the Iraqi invasion wasn't that much a big issue to most Australians. John Howard won a clear majority in the 2004 election when the opposition leader, Mark Latham, had indeed promised to withdraw the troops. Although I would probably put this down to the fact that we don't like leaving until the job is done. Edit: Also may I pose a question. Why is it wrong for one anti-Obama poster to be created, but, from what you have implied, it is perfectly acceptable to create posters comparing George Bush to Hitler/Satan/Huissen? |
