By now, you've all probably noticed that the GrassR00Ts section of the Boards here has disappeared. Well, for the time being, GrassR00Ts itself also has, more or less. I understand now that despite whatever reasons and grand ambitions I had for starting GrassR00Ts, they were premature and unwise to initiate in the middle of the development of CCRPG. CCRPG has always, and will remain, an integral part of this community. Whether there is a GrassR00Ts or not, the driving force of the community and of the services it would offer would be CCRPG and its membership. It is obvious how much the game connects and binds this community together. We can see this most obviously when there is no version running: Members, both veterans and prospective leave the community, rarely, if ever, to be heard from again. The remaining, dedicated members get bored, and if we are lucky, we get a temporary version going, or some other minigame to distract us for the moment. But it is not enough to retain even the most dedicated member for long. Tensions also flare in casual discussions as we have no effective outlet for our pent up emotions - ones which would manifest themselves normally in an in-character, roleplayed event between two nations - a very safe and creative environment, one that is not destructive or meant to attack the character of the other person. I say all of this because, I have come to realize these truths recently, and have decided against continuing GrassR00Ts for the time being. Balancing CCRPG and GrassR00Ts development, even in a lazy summer environment, is no easy task - let alone when you are the driving force behind both of them with little assistance. That does not mean that I was never helped by any of you in pursuit of these ambituous goals. Specifically, I want to thank Lundy, being my right hand man, as well as one who has an eye for the business aspect in the affairs of GrassR00Ts. I also want to thank Ares for helping us establish the Board, and to everyone who contributed with ideas and support for GrassR00Ts. GrassR00Ts itself, God-willing, will make a return later. But this will not be until we have a stable, active version of CCRPG running. As CCRPG is the driving force of this community, when I feel that we have critical mass, we will run with it and infuse it into GrassR00Ts. Whether GrassR00Ts does return or not, we will always have this integral game. And so I want to shift my attention fully to CCRPG for now, if not indefinitely. It is critical that we get this game up and running, regain the membership that we have lost to time and boredom, and gain new members as well. This has been the longest downtime between versions that we have ever had, partially because these are the most ambitious changes that we have ever set our minds to make. I am deeply excited for this new version. We will have new features that have never before been possible. Everything will be automated, solving the calculation problems and inconveniences of versions past. But most of all, I just want to PLAY! I hate all of this waiting, and I keep thinking about all the memories we've all shared in past versions. I am even considering making a temporary version to quell my nostalgia in the downtime. But we must work. And I'd like to report our progress. All the ideas are more-or-less in place. All that needs to happen is the implementation. It was not easy, and much work still needs to be done even in the gameplay development. I have been a one-man development team (in terms of ideas) more or less. I have done this because this game is my brainchild, the extension of my thoughts and observations on both how the world works and ought to work, it cuts red tape, and because the membership has been mostly apathetic to development (don't deny that you all would rather read CCRPG Marines or post in the Social Board than in any game topic I bring up). As efficient as this may seem, it has put me through a lot of stress, since I want to make it as perfect and definitive as possible. But I am not perfect, I do miss things, and I also don't know how everything fits together. Nor could any one person. But in doing so, I want to exclusively thank Deadhead. He has been with me from the first day of development of this new version, and has put forth incredible, unquestioning effort into coding this new version for automation. Deadhead, whether anyone has told you or not, through GrassR00Ts or CCRPG's commercial prospects, I intend to give you a large bonus for all of your services rendered. The development team really has been simply the dynamic between Deadhead and I - with me thinking and developing the ideas and him putting them into aciton. There are a lot of things that remain to be done. We need all the help we can get. With GrassR00Ts dismantled, at least for now, I am going to restructure the staff for CCPRG to help me. While the discussion of gameplay, features, and ideas are important, it is absolutely essential that we get whatever we have coded. And so I ask everyone, urgently, I beseech anyone who is, or knows anyone who is, skilled in programming (mostly PHP, but some other forms may help) and is willing to volunteer their time (when we generate revenue, they will be compensated) to help us out. I thank all of you for your support in all of these matters, and I hope that we can release something for you all to enjoy soon. Thank you, Ryan. |

Well said, as always, Ryan. I think you've made the best decision that could be made for what needs to be done. Of course I respect and welcome any decision you make, and this is no exception. Though I look forward to the revival of Grassr00ts, I am glad that CCRPG has become the single priority because it really is the reason most (if not all?) of us are here. I look forward to the game release :] |

Thank you Ares, this decision was by no means easy for me. And of course, this means, for the time-being, I'll have to supplant you as the main admin of CCRPG as I warned earlier. But don't worry, you're still one of my most important assistants, and there is always a high post for you. Just a few updates: 1. I've bulk emailed out this "speech" to the entire community, so you'll probably receive one, disregard it. Perhaps it may help in getting a few familiar faces back here that we haven't seen in a while. 2. I've renamed the title of the forum to "CCRPG Community" for the time being. Suggestions for different names are welcome. 3. I am leaving the skin and the double-banner at the top for now. Although I have no plans on changing the skin, I am open to suggestions as to what the main banner of the forum ought to be. 4. I am pleased and excited to announce that in addition to Deadhead, we now have Darkfate, Michaelirick, and Red_Lieutenant working full force on our automation projects. I've had extensive conversations with the last two of them last night over what our visions are, and how to achieve them. I must say that I am amazed at the combined ability of all four of them, and I have no qualms about how we are to implement our grand vision into the game.

I read all the game development topics, but I really don't have many ideas that haven't been said yet- I'm more of an rp ideaer, not a nuts-and-bolts ideaer |

YoYoYoYoYo, Ryan it seems your right, your email realerted me of your status on the game. I've been dead here mainly due to that fact I don't believe I'm of much help. I have had 2 years of classes in Java but I quite frankly don't believe I have any programming talent.:uhm: If there is anything I can do for you sir I would be glad to try.

I've always been lurking though me does not equal brilliant mind in programming. So yeah I'm not much help except read the discussions and just give my opinion when I have something to say. |
