Okay so I just wanted to update everyone on the situation at hand, as well as the new developments going on overall.

  • 1. Beta-Test
We ARE going to have a beta-test, and it will be within a number of days. It will be on this forum, and it will be open to any current CCRPG member who has played before, but may serve a limit as to how many can play. We MAY (or may not) have a second beta-test to experiment with a more complex (but automated) supply&demand pricing system. The beta-test would be ready immediately if it weren't for my reliance on using the website to host the major functions. The rules are essentially all on the website now, and I am awaiting for the unit list (written by Cyanity) and the clandestine purchasing script (written by json) to be uploaded. Once they are, we can play. If it seems that they won't be uploaded anytime soon, I'll take a day off to manually post all the game functions on the forum.

  • 2. Website
Darkfate has been working on our website, which I have tweaked a little bit (http://countrycapitalrpg.com/index.php), and has given us a preview of the final website (http://countrycapitalrpg.com/new_ccrpg). I am extremely grateful to him for it, and he expects progress on some of the custom features I've requested soon. This will allow you all to have profiles and mess around with the website, but it is unlikely that major gameplay will not take place on the forum.

  • 3. Automation
As far as I know, json and Darkfate are the only ones working on automation projects. Json is writing the unit purchasing/tracking script, and darkfate is working on nation profiles. Deadhead, I'm sorry, were you working on something?

  • 4. Subsidiaries
Lundymaphone, and more recently michaelirick have expressed interest and taken initiative in creating their own offshoots of CCRPG. We are in the process of creating an overarching 'company' to oversee all of these games, and we may host the other games on this forum for simplicity (they will only be seen by those who are members of the specific game). For more info, PM Lundy or michaelirick for their games.

  • 5. Zetaboards
We are also in discussion if we will benefit more from using Zetaboards (Invisionfree's new project) to host our forum instead of Invisionfree (which is in its final state and abandoned). Although it is currently in the Staff Board, expect a public discussion and poll soon.

I actually haven't worked on anything for the website itself.
I thought I would have more time, but it turns out that I didn't, with work and then university coming up, and since I'd have to learn php... I didn't have time for that.

I did make a program to calculate resources in each sector though...

We're doing our best to simplify and automate things so that action will take place on the forum, but the major headaches of the past will be gone, and also we will be allowed to do cool new things without creating new headaches.

Yea. but... automation takes away the creativity... while playing manually takes a lot of time. On top of that, automation has less room for flaws. Playing manually gives us more room for flaws. But i can tell you this; when i see the final version of the game I'll be as happy as this guy ----> :mexico:

For those of you who are wondering where the game content is and how it's being developed, I assure you first that it is. Unlike previous version upgrades, I have been working on something content-related nearly every day now.

The reason you don't see any progress is that it is all focused on the website, and may not even be uploaded yet. The final frontier in terms of the upgrade lays in the development of new experimental code headed by our automation team for economic structuring.

I have learned a good deal of php and have been working on my own time to produce the vital elements of the game, but must wait for certain scripts to be produced by the automation team.

I intend to make due with what we currently have, hoping that the auto team does yield some significant progress in the next week or so. Regardless, I am in the process of setting up a beta version.

I will update more on the nature of it soon.

I just want to say that the game still is coming along nicely. I just want you all to appreciate the hard work that we are putting into it. (Namely, I would say DeadHead and myself, I'm not entirely sure what DarkFate is up to). But I want you all to know that the reason it is taking so long to develop for a test is the sheer complexity of the behind-the-scenes work.

I am making this game the most incredibly realistic, rewarding, and dynamic game I've ever conceived. My tasks of making it all work are daunting. Just looking at attempting to finalize the unit list and all its economic implications (prices, resources, capital, wages, etc) is immense in and of itself.

But I am doing my best. Just wanted to let you all know. This place, and this game is nowhere near dead. It is very alive, just not in any physical, visible form.
