The movie.

I thought it was pretty good, all things considered...but for two minor (or would they be major?) points.

First, the taking out of basically all religious tones for the movie. Very sucky idea, considering that's what the book was about! This pissed me off. And I know...blah blah blah don't want to upset our viewers blah blah blah...bullshit. Controversy is the best advertising ever. Just ask a Mr. Dan Brown.

Second, it felt a bit like just a brief summary of the book...it spent about no more than five minutes on each little thing (freeing Iorek, going to Svalbard, escaping Mrs. Coulter, etc, etc). I know the book had lots of stuff happening, but when you have to cut down each little happening to five minutes, and still cut out the ending, I think you should revise something somewhere down the road.

Need to see it.

But I really did love the books.

And cutting out 'religious tone' is annoying.

I hate how Christianity is allowed to preach whatever it likes. Yet us athiests can't even tlk about a metaphorical idea!!

In a completely cynical sense, religion's only purpose is to control the happiness of the populace. :P

Let me the first to be the opposite.I'll be honest.I thought the movie was pretty terrible. The battle scenes were pretty mediocre and the plot I saw in the movie was lacking.I didn't see it for the battle scenes only, but I thought they could have been done a bit better.I almost fell asleep a couple of times during the movie, but I didn't want to be rude to my friend, whose parents let me go with them.

All in all,I think it was a good theme, but it wasn't done that well.I am sure the books will be better as I haven't read them and that being put into movie form did the series harm detailwise, but the movie didn't appeal to me that much.

The battle scenes were lacking, that's for sure.

I was busy, but three of friends went to see it. They have all read the books and they all thought it was horrible. Going from book to movie had apparently twisted everything entirely, and then how they cut out the ending as well. I'll have to see it myself to see...

The first book, excluding the climax.

Yeah thought so... I didn't think there was a battle in the first book...

The big battle scene was in the Amber Spyglass.
