The 7th Lunar sped along it's route at full speed, at their present position they were only forty-five minutes away from reaching Side 5's airspace. Being on an off the books mission for the AEUG, the fleet didn't send any IFF squawks to the Side alerting them to their impending arrival.

Banska was busy brushing up on his small arms and hand to hand with some of Boyle’s men. He had already been thoroughly trained in ground combat, door to door, zero-g etc since the war so it was merely for practice. But it was needed practice.

“I wish they would hurry up with the plan so we would all know what the hell we should be prepping for,” he said to no one in particular as he wiped sweat from his brow.

Deciding his skills would be needed more on the ground rather than the cockpit, Wolfram began to refresh his CQB skills and firearms training with Boyle's squad. At the moment, he was testing his aim and steady hand with an assault rifle in the firing range. He knew his aiming and usage of firearms was better than his rusty and somewhat outdated CQB skills.

Karl sat in the Captains chair on the bridge, he'd relieved Kimi three hours ago and sat vigilantly, constantly shifting his gaze between the various duty stations, keeping himself appraised of the general condition around the ship without intruding upon the officer that manned those stations. thirty minutes out from Side five the main sensor station beeped when three distinct heat sources, backed up by faint radar signatures, showed up on the screen.

Karl, not knowing if this was an AEUG reinforcement force coming to link up or an enemy force moving to engage, called for the first alert launch team called to the hangar but ordered that the launches be postponed until the last minute, he called to the main communications officer, "Order all weapons trained and charged, but make sure no one fires unless provoked, relay that to the fleet."

Sharan smiled as the sensors aboard the Zanzibar II detected the oncoming AEUG fleet cracking his knuckles quietly as his lips pulled into a Cheshire cat grin, “My my, I have to admire our intelligence agents, still sharp with their delivery despite so many years of inactiveness.” he swept about to face his crew,

All ships are to avoid provoking a response from the AEUG fleet, while technically they may be our enemies there are people aboard that fleet who are heroes of the Principality, and we will treat them as such, these are our brothers and sisters, and they will be treated with all the respect of their rank.

He turned back to glance at the oncoming Irish-class and smirked, “Open laser communications with their carrier, standard Principality battle-language, message: Hello Old Friend, we’re here to talk.

As soon as the Comms Officer had finished relaying the Commanders orders across the fleet a laser communication came in from dead ahead. After alerting Karl about it and where it had came from he quickly ran the transmission through the standard decryption sequences but only got gobbledy-gook from it, "Sir, I'm unable to decrypt the transmission we just received, the standard AEUG crypt key's don't work, in fact it doesn't seem to fit any of the Federations crypt key's." Karl nodded and came over to take a look, he quickly saw the problem, "I'll take over crewman, I know this code from way back." Karl quickly typed in the coding sequence needed and read the message, he responded with *That's some timing Forlorn Hope, considering the current political situation, if you want to talk, meet me out in space in ten."

Karl then turned the officer of the deck, You have the deck, Ens., have Lt. Commander Anderson called to the hangar deck to meet me." With that he floated off at a good clip, headed for the hangar deck and his Rick Dias II.

Jim was in the gym; which had been converted into an ad-hoc training area for small-unit tactics, when the 1MC chimed, requesting his presence on the hangar. So much for this he shrugged internally as he lazily waved a hand good-bye to the assembled troopers. Jim headed to the hangar quick as he could, spotting Karl as he reached the deck. "Something up, Karl?" he asked, a little curious as to what was going on.

"We've got company and they want to talk." Karl said with a smile on his face, climbing into his RD II as he did so, "We're going to meet their representative out in the open and see what they want. I've already got the fleet primed to open up at the slightest chance of provocation and our primary alert team is on stand-by as well. Keep your hand weapons racked when we're out there." Karl then shut the cockpit hatch and a few minutes later was drifting off the starboard launch deck and flying to the mid-point between the AEUG and Axis fleets.

"I'm gonna need much more info than that, Karl" Jim said as soon as Karl had given out his orders, but Karl flat-out ignored what Jim said as the man entered his own cockpit. What the fuck, asshole? Let's just ignore your number one then, shall we? he fumed as he quickly donned his pilot suit and strapped on his sidearms. Climbing into his Kai, Jim took off after Karl, settling into standard wingman position. As soon as he had LOS on Karl, Jim opened up the laser comm line. "So, how about that info then, boss? Did Command send reinforcements?" he asked, hoping that was the case, but his mind entering overdrive wondering what the hell was going on.

"No, it's not an AEUG fleet, it's an Axis one and like I said, they want to talk. No clue about what but knowing their Commander, if they wanted us dead, we would already be fighting. We're going to give them a chance to state their case, make sure you stay on that laser comm link to the ship though." Karl said as he took his time making his way to the meeting point.

Jim's eyes flew wide at that statement. "Soo... we're going to meet with the commander of a fleet that is our enemy in no uncertain terms, and you have personal knowledge of him? I can only assume this is part of some cunning plan on your end to terminate the ranking officer on-scene as soon as he's identified" Jim responded, one hand on the comm button back to the ship as the other moved down, towards the master arm. Jim did not arm his weapons yet, but he was as ready as he could be without showing as loaded for bear on passive sensors. You must think me a fool to follow you into a Zeon fleet alone, Tripitz. Too bad for you he mused, holding his breath as he waited for Karl's response.

"No, it's part of my cunning plan to see what they want, like I said, if they wanted to fight, we would be already. Don't worry, from what I know, most of the Axis pilots are nothign more than kids. We'll burn right through them and keep on to Side if they so much as twitch wrong." Karl said as he too checked his weapons, making sure everything was charged and ready to go at a moments notice.

Jim's face didn't betray a hint of the emotional storm as he thought about what Karl had said. So... he knows the enemy commander personally, wants me to follow him to an RV when I will have no support. You really think I'm gonna fall for that? he thought to himself as he flipped his missile and rocket systems to their 'armed' position. He kept his beams cold, since those going on would be detected, but there was no way for anything short of active fire-control sensors to pick up the removal of his missile safeties. Jim looked right at Karl's eyes as he responded "I do not like the sound of that, Commander. To me, at least, this smells like a trap. Why attack us head-on when they can decapitate us first, finish the body after the head is dead. Why are we even listening to them? They are the enemy, in case you've forgotten. And how can they be both green enough for the two of us to burn right through them, and yet good enough for our Battlegroup to be dead already if that's what they wanted" he responded, liking the situation less and less as he made his case.

"Because Jim, they could have easily ambushed us as soon as we entered the Side, what with all the big objects to hide behind and all, if we face them openly right now, their units won't stand a chance against us. We only detected them because they wanted us to, because they have something to say, otherwise it makes no military sense to put themselves where they can be easily routed. And didn't your mother ever teach you about manners? When you have guests, greet them, besides, we both have every reason to trust this guy, he's the one who gave us all that nifty tech info from the Titans." Karl said with a grin on his face.

Jim hardened his stare. "Since apparently you have forgotten, Tripitz, we are not 'guests' of Axis. Axis has a military alliance with the Titans. Since we are at war with the Titans, that means we are at war with Axis. I don't give a damn who is over there, or if you flew with him in the War. They are the enemy, and you do not listen to the enemy, you do not negotiate with the enemy. You kill the enemy. Terminate with extreme prejudice. I wanted to do this in private, but you've forced my hand, and we're doing this now. It took me two years to work up the resolve to pull the trigger on my own. It is now our sworn duty to kill everyone flying and fighting for Axis. Put up or shut up, Tripitz. You are a Commander of the AEUG, and as such it is your duty to terminate an enemy high-value target when the opportunity presents itselfNow, are we going to kill this high-value target meeting us, or not?" Jim asked, his hands moving to his weapon controls off the camera.
