Debriefing, we're holding it in the hangar bay since the pilots briefing room is a bit tight for that many folks) A hundred and fifty plus seats sat arranged in a square in the middle of the upper hangar deck and nearly filled with personnel from the operation; mechanics, soldiers, pilots and liberated operatives and comrades, all sat in a moment of silence meant for those lost in the daring rescue operation, Karl stood with the Captain of the Azuza in front of the gathering. The ships bridge crew had volunteered to pay their respects on the bridge and keep the ship in the air and on course for Karaba's main North American base, S-12, situated in the middle of the Rockies. Ambrose had reported to the massive debrief in the company of the Hurricanes who Jim had given his freedom, and possibly his life, by Rick's account, to liberate. Seeing Rick, Christine, Donnie, and Jonas again brought back the memories for sure, but not the ones he was expecting. It brought back the memories of the well-oiled machine that Rick and Jim had run, an elite squadron where everything was planned out to the 'T' and nothing left to chance. Unlike this damn Zeke, who's riding off into the sunset waving a hat as he screams 'yee-hah! Get'em boys!' Ambrose fumed, remembering Karl arresting Jim for having the gall to challenge Karl's authority with a damn good reason as far as the former Federals were concerned. The mood of all the Hurricanes present was somber. They'd been liberated and reunited, but the cornerstone of the squadron was gone. Ambrose looked up to Karl, wondering what the Zeon had to say that could alleviate the loss of his greatest friend, comrade, and brother. _________________________________________________ Eddy had reached the debriefing and had elected to give the men of the Allan a wide berth. True, Eddy had known Jim fairly well, but the pilots over there had flown with him for 2 years. Eddy instead grabbed a seat near David and waited for Karl to start the show. |

Banska sat in the front, close to where Karl was. He leaned back, doing his best to relax against the cold steel of the hard folding chair. He stared absentmindedly at his combat boots, rocking one foot slowly from side to side, waiting for the debriefing to start. |

After a few minutes Karl coughed lightly and then stepped up to the podium, "We lost a good number of fine soldiers today, men and women who willingly sacrificed their lives in return for bringing home our lost brothers and sisters in arms, the AEUG gave this mission a low completion rating if we had stayed long enough to secure this many detainees, but as with any mission planned by Jim Anderson it went off with almost no problems, well none that he could have foreseen anyway........... You all know the Lt. and I never saw eye to eye on a lot of things but his death or capture is a huge blow to this command, one I regret deeply, I hope that his friends will be inspired by his bravery and elect to join up with either Karaba or the AEUG, lord knows we could use more experienced pilots, even if they are from Earth" Karl chided, hoping to lighten the mood a bit for the next segment of his speech, "Now throughout the fight one of our more experienced fighters performed admirably in his duties, both fighting and acting as an officer, Ens. Banska Senne, please step forward."

As Karl made his speech, a Shuttle bound for the Karaba base in Florida dropped into the atmosphere. As it finished re-entry, the pilot signaled the bridge of the Azula. "This is the A.E.U.G./Karaba supply shuttle Avant Garde, the pilot said. "We are carrying a new Nemo and it's pilot, an Ensign Angus O'Mally. He has been assigned to the 7th. I would like to request permission to drop him and his suit so that I can get moving towards my final destination." Inside the passenger compartment: As a member of the Avant Garde crew left the bridge, she walked over to Angus. "I'm sorry that it took so long to get you to your unit, Ensign," she said, smiling. "We have just made contact with the ship currently ferrying your unit. It's a shame that you can't go to Florida with us... i'd kind of like to take you to the beach." Blushing, she smiled. "But this is war. It can't be helped. Would you mind entering the cockpit of your Nemo? Once the Azula gives you permission to come aboard, the captain wants to drop you out of the hanger so that he doesn't have to land and slow us down any further." "Sure," Angus said, smiling. "Perhaps after the war is over, you can show me your home? I'd really like that. Anyhow, i've got to be going. I'll see you around sometime." Hopping out of his seat, Angus cursed Gravity as he fell. "Man, i'm gonna have to get use to this again, huh?" he asked, smiling. Getting back up, he ran towards the cargo compartment. Seeing his Nemo already moved in front of the hatch, he smiled and climbed into the cockpit since it was in the kneeling position. Activating his O.S>, Angus ran a check before hailing the Avant Garde's Bridge. "This is Ensign O'Mally. I am ready for launch whenever you are." |

Dracid was sitting in the upper areas in the usual place he chilled at when he was in the hangar. He thought back to the pilot of the Aqua GM that he ended up killing. Sure, he was the enemy, but that didn't stop him from feeling some remorse. He put it off to the back of his mind and awaited the debriefing. He listened and felt sorry for those who were lost. He didn't know a lot of them, so it wasn't a heavy sorrow. He didn't let that bother him too much. After listening to the rest of what Karl had to say, he waited for Banska to comply with the request. |

Banska looked up, and quickly came to attention, strutting the five feet between him and Karl with the crispness of a cadet fresh out of the academy. He was a bit confused as to why he was being called up but he showed no emotion on his face as he stood in front of the assembly of men and women.

Karl turned to Banska and pulled out a small box from under the podium, "Banska Senne, for level headed decision making under fire and above average fighting skill, the AEUG has promoted you to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and I have furthermore made you the new squad leader for Gamma team. Congratulations." Karl held the box out and shook Banksa's hand in the usual precession for a promotion.

As the bridge gave Angus proper Authorization, the shuttle's crew gave Angus the signal. Using his Nemo's arms, he pushed the suit out of the cargo hold. As the suit started to drop in freefall, he fired up the thrusters. As the Nemo soared abouve the ship, Angus began to scan the area for possible enemies. Detecting none, he let his finger drift away from the button to draw weapons. "Bridge, this is ensign Angus O'Mally," he said signaling the ship. "I detect no enemies. Do you want me to continue patrolling?" |

First Lieutenant Boyle stood up when he was called for, heading up to the podium. He nodded to Karl and took the podium. "I've never been much for words, soldiers, but I'll try here. We were tasked with one of the most time-honored missions of elite infantry everywhere: rescuing POWs. This is the kind of mission my team has been waiting a long time for. To those men of the Marsa Allan whom we liberated, I have this to say. I know you not, but if Lieutenant Anderson was any indication, the forces of peace we represent will be the better to have you alongside us" Boyle paused, sipping at a water bottle he'd grabbed. "However, even though we rejoice at the safe return of our comrades, we must also remember those who did not return. To that end, in honor of Private First Class Michael Lofgren, Private First Class Ian Orwell, Lance Corporal Laura Smith, Lance Corporal Noah Jones, Corporal Evan Draper, Private Kara Jessup, Corporal Bob Parker, Private Helen Wallace, and Master Sergeant Kyle Larson, who gave their lives for this operation, I ask for a moment of silence" Will said, keeping his emotions in check as he went down the list of the names of nine of his friends, bowing his head. After a moment, he looked back up. "I've fought alongside them for at least a year. Eight, in the case of Sergeant Larson. They were all good men. Several of them displayed extreme valor during this operation, to that end, I'm recommending Corporal Draper and Master Sergeant Larson for the Silver Star. One other instance of leadership has been brought to my attention as well, and as the CO of this outfit, I'm exercising my command authority at this time. Attention to orders!" he called. "Sergeant Sara Kemper, your conduct during this operation was outstanding, and in the finest traditions of military service. As such, you are hereby promoted to Staff Sergeant and are the new top kick in this outfit. Additionally, Staff Sergeant, I am recommending you for the Silver Star. Well done, Staff Sergeant" he said, applauding his senior noncom. He thought of one last duty he owed to the man who'd willingly sacrificed himself so others may live. "There is one last name that should be amongst us. Lieutenant James Anderson. He willingly sacrificed himself to accomplish the mission and ensure his men escaped, no matter the cost he might personally incur. For his extreme gallantry and willful risk of his own life, I am recommending Lieutenant Anderson for the Navy Cross. Additionally, though he is not a member of my command, I am recommending him for promotion, even though it is posthumous" Boyle said, nodding to Karl as he stepped down from the podium and rejoined his brother light fighters. |

*Red, we don't give out medals etc in game, even to NPCs. Not even the staff do that. * Zane 'So many lost...was it worth it?' Zane thought while looking over the debriefing from the back of the room. Banksa got a promotion, and this Boyle guy was going way out of his allowed influence to try and get Jim promoted. The one thing that made Zane angry was the fact that no one acknowledged the two pilots lost during the fight, and with Boyle already done with naming off the dead, it seemed as though their sacrificed will be intentionally ignored, and only the ground assault team will be recognized as doing anything. David David was sitting down when Eddy sat down next to him. "Nice work scoring some kills out there, man. Guess you proved the effectiveness of those shield boosters." He said while nudging his closest friend he had on the ship. |

(WARNING THIS IS ONE HELL OF A NIGHTMARE. I know not what possessed my to write this.) Since the dodai had returned to the ship, Chelsea had been in med bay. Although she was only hit to be brought along safely she was still out cold. As she lay there unconscious she started to have a nightmare. Almost as if it was on a loop, she continued to relive the team leaving Jim behind in this nightmare, with her being unable to do anything about it. "Why do I feel bad about this? He was a Titan who helped to kill my family why should I feel bad?" Then a voice echoed throughout her mind. "Would this make you happier?" A bright flash blinded her and before she could realize she was holding a gun in front of Jim's head, as the A.E.U.G. team ran away. "Don't do it Chelsea! You know it's not the right thing to do. I couldn't stop them, if I could have I wold have taken them out myself. Please you have to understand that!" "Stop lying to me! You should have done better!" The gunshot echoed throughout the room. Before she had known it there was a large hole in the man's head, his blood had gone everywhere. "Before you know it you are the one who pulls the trigger. You become the enemy, and you become what you hate the most." A mirror had appeared as she looked at herself in the mirror. She was standing there with blood on her hands in a black Titan's uniform. No... No I'm not! I'M NOT A TITAN! "Power. Guns, mobile suits they all have the potential to hold power over the most precious of things, life. When you pick one up or sit in a cockpit you are granted that power. Has that thought even occurred to you? I suppose not." WHO ARE YOU!?! SHOW YOURSELF!" Another white flash came that engulfed the room. This time she was in the same room and still wearing a Titan uniform, but there was no one around."This room could well interpret the current you, Chelsea. Alone, and fearful of tomorrow. Always isolated, and powerless to do anything about your current circumstances." SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP! "The truth is never kind. However, there is more than meets the eye here." "Chelsea, I'm sorry for what happened to your family." One Jim said as he appeared in front of her. Before he knew it there were four Jim's that had surrounded her. They all began to speak in unison. "Why are you fighting? You're too kind for a battlefield. You should go back home and leave this fighting to the rest of us." More people surrounded her. Eddy, Karl, Zane, Sean, Banska, David, Dracid, and Michiko all appeared in the room quickly, all but one Jim disappeared. Then all but Jim started to speak. "You should go back home, you're not fit to be here with us at all. Don't go on continuing to kid yourself thinking that, eventually, someday you will be able to make some sort of difference by being here. Quit, you're not helping anyone by staying here. After all look at Jim you left him behind didn't you!?! You killed Jim yourself didn't you!?!" STOP IT! Please stop it, stop talking! You can't mean that, I've helped haven't I? I've been trying hard to make a difference around the ship. Isn't that good enough?" Nine shots echoed through out the room as nine bodies hit the floor., lifelessly looking right into Chelsea's eyes. She couldn't believe what just happened. All of her friends had been killed literally right in front of her. Then a shadowed man came forth from the shadows of the room."Who... Who are you? Are you going to kill me as well?" As the shadows around the man disappeared, the masked Titan officer lowed his weapon to his side and stored it in the holster. He extended his hand out to the woman. "What were you thinking silly. Trying to do this all by yourself, you should have just asked someone and they would've been more than willing to help you out. Nothing in this world is ever accomplished by one person alone, teamwork and friendships are what gets great tasks completed. As long as you know that you'll never be alone, you'll have the strength to accomplish anything you set your mind to." Slowly she wiped the tears from her face and a smile could be seen. She reached out to grab a hold of the masked man's hand, and just as she touched it the room became solid white, everything that was there a moment before was gone, with the exception of the mirror. As she looked into it once more, a reflection of her wearing an A.E.U.G. uniform could be seen, that image of her steeped out of the mirror and looked at her in the eyes. She then realized that was still wearing the Titan uniform. "Who are you and why are you doing this to me!?" The A.E.U.G. version of herself moved her hand up to her mouth as she laughed a bit. "You really can't tell? Chelsea Vera you and I are the same person, the only difference between the two of us is that you've forgotten an important part of yourself, and until you can remember that on your own you will be doomed to continue living your current life. Unable to change, unable to adapt, and unable to move on. You must remember for everyone's sake.""What are you talking about I am me, and that's all there is to it." The A.E.U.G. version of herself sadly shook her head, "No you are only one half of yourself. Remember." Before she knew it she was in a different place again. It appeared to be the Earth again. Again with the Earth? Why the hell do I keep dreaming about this? ANSWER ME!" There was no response from the previous voice, all she could think to do was look around. There were tables that hadn't been set up and at least a dozen cardboard boxes. She found a clipboard with writing on it. 'Samantha's To Do List:' "Who's Samantha? And just what is she trying to do here?" A voice came up from behind her. "What were you thinking silly. Trying to do this all by yourself, you should have just asked someone and they would've been more than willing to help you out." She quickly turned around, afraid that the masked Titan officer was behind her, but instead a young man stood there, with a bunch of people behind him. "Tell me! Who are you? Who am I?" It was as if she didn't even ask the question. Nothing in this world is ever accomplished by one person alone, teamwork and friendships are what gets great tasks completed. As long as you know that you'll never be alone, you'll have the strength to accomplish anything you set your mind to." She couldn't help but feel empty inside as her questions failed to get answered. Before she woke up she realized that the her in that dream was wearing her locket, something that had not been present in the previous dream. She awoke with a cold sweat and doctors surrounding her. "Are you alright Ensign Vera?" "I'm fine just leave me alone!" She said as she angrily arose to her feet and stormed out of the med bay. Edited by Orrick Alexander, May 10 2009, 09:46 PM.
