Jim chuckled into his breakfast at her comment. "Well, those reflexes are just a side effect. Reactions like that in combat'll keep you alive. As for the marksmanship, that's no problem; I'll get us setup on some kind of basic range later. I'll also arrange for one of the hardboys to stick with you to keep you safe out there" Jim told her, digging into his fruit. _______________________________ Ambrose bowed his head at Leet's request, offering a silent prayer for the fallen. Leet The two guards that were in the hangar looked at Leet, awaiting his order. He looked up and gave them a nod as they started a 21 gun salute*or however many shots it is.* When it was over, the majority of the people stared into the deep blue, where Terry and Dale's body would spend the rest of their existence until the sea life devoured whatever was left from the charred remains of the mobile suit wreckages. Zane Zane heard the gunshots and wondered what they were, but was more angered at the fact that they woke him up. burying his head under his pillow, he tried to get some more shut eye. |

"Alright, I'll take you up on that Jim. Just get a hold of me whenever your ready." Chelsea stood up with her empty tray and dishes. "I'll see you later Jim." With that she excused herself and placed her empty dishes into the disposal and left the mess hall. |

Karl stepped off the Rick Dias's zip line and made a B-line for the pilots locker room to patch up and clean his suit, as well as patch up his broken ribs and shower. An hour later after accomplishing his tasks, some more painful than others, he headed for the bridge with a detailed list of what he was going to requisition from the AEUG and Karaba. Arriving at the bridge, he quickly commandeered a communications station and secured a tight band long range laser line to the Karaba base, he started typing out a requisition list, intending to bolster his numbers and firepower before taking on their next objective, "This is Lieutenant Commander Karl Tirpitz of the 7th Lunar detachment on special assignment to Earth with my unit. We've been given permission to refuel the Garuda class transport your organizations sent us for our operations at your Kauai Island base. Recently we've taken losses that will require us to requisition war materials from your base, so we're going to be needing a total of 5 Nemo's, three of the new mass production Shield boosters and two Cannon upgrade kits for a pair of vets who have experience as snipers, we'll also be needing....." Karl started to list off a series of parts and ammo types in various quantities, along with weapons and new Dodai's to replace the one's that had been lost up to that point, if they were going to have any chance of surviving the prison break they'd need everything they could get. After transmitting his message over the heavily encrypted laser line Karl called down to the flight deck and ordered the deck chief to have a Dodai fueled and his Rick Dias fulling loaded for combat, after doing this he left the bridge heading down to the flight deck at a brisk walk. Ten minutes later he arrived in front of his Mobile Suit again, this time to the Islands ahead of the transport to see a man about a treasure chest. As soon as Karl had his suit settled onto the Dodai he ordered the bow doors opened, "Bridge, this is Karl Tirpitz, taking off on special assignment, inform Lt. Anderson that he's in command and I will rendezvous with the ship at the base in 12 hours." With that Karl took off at full speed, rocketing out of the hangar and tacking to the proper head to take him to Kahoolawe Island. |

Jim was displeased, to put it mildly, that Karl had ignored his request to go to the RV with the supposed Titans spy. If it's an ambush, your ass he shrugged. Jim was on the makeshift firing range, putting rounds from his 1911 through the targets right through the X ring. He saw 1LT Boyle and two of his senior noncoms come in, wearing fatigues with the new H&K P41 12mms strapped to their hips. They nodded to the flyboy and started putting rounds downrange. Jim smiled to himself as he saw one of the Sergeants putting less rounds into the X ring than he did. With a fresh target up, they didn't see his perfect box of .45. Jim chuckled as the Sergeant with an EFSF Marine EGA on it put one into the 8 ring. She looked over to him. "Like you can do better, airboy?" the jarhead rattled off at him, a look of contempt on her face. Jim just shrugged and ripped off all 8 rounds he had loaded into the target in under five seconds, all of them hitting the X ring. "Seems I can, Sergeant" he said. That earned him instant credibility with the grunts, after a little hand to hand they were accepting of him as, if not a fellow grunt, at least a good combatant. Jim then found out that they were Master Sergeant Kyle Larson, EFA Rangers, and Sergeant Sara Kemper, EFSF Marines. They were the command team for the special ops analogue the AEUG had sent them for the Alcatraz op, and they all started in on the assault plan for the Alcatraz op, peppering the planning with a few jabs at the Zeon's command style. Boyle and Jim struck up a good working rapport, with Boyle clearly pleased that Jim was going to be going in with them on the ground. He was less than enthused about Chelsea coming, but knew they needed a computer specialist for the op. Kemper volunteered to ride shotgun on Chelsea, and after running some more in-depth planning they all got back to shooting. |

Chelsea had wandered off with nowhere to go on board the ship. "I wonder where everyone's at. We won we should be celebrating right? I guess everyone's pretty much in the same boat as I am." Chelsea found herself drawn back to her beat up nemo. The mechanics had continued to work on repairing it with what they had to repair the units. All of a sudden she heard shots going off in succession. "Hmmm, I wonder what's going on over there?" She wandered over to the source of the noise. As the door slid open there were three people shooting weapons at targets, including Jim... She spoke up, "Ya know you were suppose to send me a message when we were to start training. You know that right Jim!?" Edited by Orrick Alexander, Mar 31 2009, 10:53 AM.

Jim sighed as Chelsea walked in as he finished another mag of .45. "I was about to call you when these apes walked in. I ended up showing them that flyboys can shoot better than they can, and then we talked through the assault plan on Alcatraz. You're welcome to join us, take this" Jim said, clearing his P41 and handing it to her. "Try this out, it shoots well" he told her, reloading another mag of .45 ACP+P and snapping off a perfect doubletap to the head of the silhouette target. |

Leet After the shots ended, shots from somewhere else in the ship went off. A quick radio call to his team indicated that there was a few AEUGers doing a little target practice. After the mechanics went back to work, Leet and his two underlings stayed with the Karaba Pilots. In the consolidation, he told them that they'll kill triple that amount of Titans in the next mission. |

Thanks." She took the weapon from his hand and situated herself at the target range. Finding the headphone looking objects that would reduce the amount of sound she would hear, she placed them on her head. She snapped a magazine into the weapon, and took aim. "Well at least I can do this." She placed her right hand on the grip, and her left hand covered it. She leaned her head in slightly towards the right as she took quick and careful aim of the target. Step 1: Lock in on the target. Step 2: Move your finger to the trigger. And Step 3:" Following that through she fired in succession the 12 rounds in the clip. After finishing her shots, she had made 9 or her 12 shots on target, the remaining three were just barely in the 9 ring. She placed her weapon on the table in front of her and took the dampeners away from her ears to hear what the the people around her had to say. Edited by Orrick Alexander, Apr 1 2009, 07:23 AM.

Jim fired off the remaining rounds in his mag, rewarded with another six holes in the 'instant incapacitation' zone of the target. He smiled, satisfied with his pistol work. He then observed Chelsea shoot her first mag. Not too bad, Chels. For an amateur, though he mused, and was about to comment as such when he heard Larson jump in. "Not too bad, ma'am... for a paper pusher. Anyone can hit a stationary target at ten yards with a pistol in perfect conditions. Now imagine yourself pinned down by automatic fire, wounded allies screaming. Can you still maintain that level of calm with that going on?" the master sergeant asked. Jim nodded to him, and moved in to help correct her form. "Not bad at all, Chelsea. Still, there's some room for improvement. You're gripping the weapon too hard; its throwing your aim off a little. Relax the grip and it won't shake as much with the natural motions of your body. Second, you're pulling the trigger too hard. Squeeze it, don't pull it" Jim pointed out to her as he eyed her target. All the holes were in the head of the silhouette. Good on the range, but in actual combat she'll never get headshots he knew, and he gave her another piece of advice. One more thing: you're only shooting for the head here. I have some issues scoring consistent headshots in combat, so I don't want you going for them. I want you to try this - put two quickfire shots into the torso, then slow down and put a single aimed round through the head" he asked, then stepped back to observe her next mag. |

(OOC: to Redshirt :dieshotgun: ) Having been practically yelled at by the complete stranger, and then having Jim completely redo her entire way of firing a pistol, Chelsea wasn't feeling very secure. "I though for sure this was something I couldn't screw up on. I did though didn't I. No, I didn't, I only missed three shots how is that bad." As the self-doubt started to consume her thoughts, the disgrace and shame of loosing her first unit, and damaging her second unit soon followed. Then to make things worse than what they already were flashes of fires and destruction popped in front of her eyes from time to time. the quiet of the room while everyone watched had started to get in her head as well. It was quickly spiraling out of control for her. The her hands, no longer remained still and vigilant. They were shaking and the weapon was weaving back and fourth in front of the target. Sweat had started to down her face, her eyes were open wide, and that concentration that she had had just a moment ago was completely lost. "St-Step 1: T-Try to lock in on the target." She shook her head to try and snap out of the trance she was in, but to no avail. "T-Two, move the finger to the trigger." The silence of the room made it nothing less than a sheer prison for her sense of hearing. Her hands could feel the weapon, but they felt cold and didn't want to respond quickly. Her eyes had started to deceive her as she could have sworn she was on some scared patch of earth with fire surrounding her. She started to feel sick to her stomach as she pulled the trigger three times with every ounce of will and concentration she had. Just as Jim wanted, the first two shots went through the torso of the silhouette, while the remaining one went straight through the torso of it. Looking up after the shot she saw that there wasn't anything there. Just the normal room, Jim and the others, and she had pulled the trigger three times just as instructed. Nothing out of the normal, however she was exhausted. Her legs were weak from the pressure and experience of what she had just done through, and she fell to her knees. She took several deep breathes as tears quietly ran down her cheek. |

Leet After a few minutes of talking with the Karaba team, Leet headed off, leaving his two men to their post in the hangar. Walking around, he was inspecting his men at their stations. A few minutes of this revealed to him that one of the two pilots in confinement did not return to his room after the battle. Since Karl didn't send a message to anyone on the team that their punishment is ending prematurely, Leet, nor any of the other Karaba guards knew about it. Asking on the walkie, one of the MPs who was in charge of guarding Jim sated that he was with the others doing target practice the last time he checked. Leet took it upon himself to make sure what happened, and entered the room in time to watch Chelsea prepare to fire, even though he had no idea which gentleman in the room was Jim Anderson. Leet talked to one of the, apparently incompetent, EFSF marines whom he met prior to the battle. They chatted a bit, and he asked which one was Jim. He pointed at the man close to the Chelsea who was instructing her. Instead of being rude and barging in and disrupting the lesson, Leet sat back and watched as Chelsea ripped three bullets into the target, to which Leet clapped while saying "Nice hits, nice hits." (Red, try not to start a brawl this time. :P ) |

Jim smiled as her first two shots punched straight through the target's torso. He frowned as the next one was completely off target, not even hitting the white portion. He saw the Ranger master sergeant, Larson, about to rip into her, but he held up a hand, ordering the trooper to stand down. "Ensign, those first two were good. That last one, though, not so much. Everyone has an off round or two, but you looked pretty shook up that series. Steady hands are critical when shooting. Just remember: clear like water, cool like ice. Think of yourself like that, identify the target, squeeze the trigger. Try it again" he told her, simply nodding to the Karaba trooper he hadn't met yet. |

"I-I'll try." She said this while wiping away the the tears from her eyes. Wearily she rose to her feat and held the weapon in front of her. Holding the way she was instructed she no longer though about the steps she had been taught and just fired the weapon. Three shots were fired, two next to the previous holes, and the third through the head. She continued to look at the target remembering the man she had killed in Descending Sword as his lifeless body fell on her. His warm blood spewing out onto her. He stood there with the p41 by her side. She felt cold and emotionless, as she just stood there looking at the target. |

Jim smiled as his instruction took hold. "Much better, Chels. Clear your emotions in combat, or else they'll get the better or you, and then that's it. Only man I ever lost out there is gone because he let himself be ruled by his emotions. Don't make his mistakes. That's enough pistol; try this" he said, handing her a PDW, the same weapon she'd be issued for the assault. Jim stood back and watched her coldly rip rounds into to the silhouette, pleased with the progress she was making with her marksmanship and emotional control. *timeskip* Jim was in his repaired Dias, watching the carrier pull in over the datalinks. Jim was on ready-five just in case they were pinched on the way in, but it had been an uneventful trip into Karaba's hidden base. As the ship settled into the landing bay and techs swarmed it, Jim sighed as he spotted Karl's Dias. Weird... guess that bastard was a genuine Zeke... sure had Ambrose fooled. Too bad he didn't do Karl in anyways Jim thought, privately wishing Karl at least wasn't here. Fuckit. We're outbound to Alcatraz, and I'm asking Command for a transfer into whatever team they assign Rick to run he mused, waiting for Karl to come aboard. |
