For those thinking of making a Hittite or Neo Hittite helmet, this article may be of some assistance.. http://www.academia.edu/1877571/Neo_Hittit..._2007_2009_BAR_ |

Thanks for pointing out that paper, George. I don't think anyone else is making things around here. As soon as my list of projects is done, I'll be finished too, but that will be a couple of years down the line. We need some new blood in this place. |

So true. But, the craft is very hard and can be frustrating. I have maybe 10 or so Neil swords, only a couple of which are done to my liking, others not done. Life keeps getting in the way. |

I think that for a lot of folks on this forum including many who were here at the beginning, the forum allowed them to fully explore their interests and then move on --to other periods of interest or chapters of their lives. Funny thing is, I dont really have a driving desire to hang out with reenactors or deal with the personalities and dynamics associated with creating a group, and I have zero interest in training or educating newbies. I like the idea of making presentations to the public now and again at community centers and libraries, and have done it before. With REALLY ancient stuff, there just aren't people geographically nearby who do Egyptian or Trojan War era re-enactment. |
