Just figured I'd share this piece, which is a real beauty! Found it while browsing around for other stuff, as usual. Cheers!

Nice! I've seen one of those (or that one) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art before. Duh! I see now that the title of the post says it's in the Met

When I was visiting the Metropolitan I actually had to skip that entire section due to serious lack of time. That museum was way too big to see it all in one day. Same goes for the American Museum of Natural History. :(

You guys are lucky to live so close to it!

I wish I lived near that museum --I'd never leave! Actually have some relatives in Manhattan, and whenever I visit, I make a beeline to that museum --it's amazing. When I was a child I'd go straight to the arms and armour. When I got a bit older -- it was straight to the paintings and ancient art. Now I'd be making a beeline back to the armour again!

I'll actually get to go to the Met for the first time this summer when I get to NY with my sister's choir group (I'm chaperoning for my alma mater's choir, weird!) Looking forward to it!

You'll need at least a week to properly see it and another week to see the AMoNH. B)

@ Todd: I wish I had some relatives in Manhattan too, what a magical place that is! Unfortunately it's a very expensive, 20+ hour travel from where I live.

I'm only interested in seeing the Medieval arms and armor collection in detail, and plan on spending three or four hours in the exhibit. I had as much time in the Kunsthistorisches in Vienna, and things worked out. Hopefully it will again!

But yes, I really like this helmet. The detail on the designs are very cool, and the way they were attached is particularly interesting. I would rather like to try something like this.
