I have to recommend the book "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck because it really made me want to write mystery/twisty-turning-plot-wrecking novels. >.< There are so many changes in the plot and so many stories that he starts and finishes later. Steinbeck is my favorite author - if you can read anything by him, do so. He's magnificent. But "East of Eden" is the best.

Plus, Oprah likes it. :D

I don't like a few of his books unfortunately - "Of Mice and Men" didn't make any sense to me. o.O But "Grapes of Wrath" and "East of Eden" are good. I recommend both of them. ;)

Yeah, but on the bright side "Of Mice and Men" was on the short side :P I actually enjoyed "The Pearl" but maybe that was just me X_x. And "Grapes of Wrath" I liked it, but I don't gush over it lol. I can still appreciate it though haha.
