Dudes my family had an old copy of the old board game Diplomacy, a simple, luck-less WWI game of strategy and deceit with really easy rules but endless subtlety, but I don't think it was ever played because the game takes literally days to finish. I read the manual and loved the concept but never got to play it because you need 7 devoted people. I thought "wouldn't it be great if there were some sort of 'internet' where you could play with people around the world and save the game state"? And then there weren't any good versions on the internet when that came out. But now there is!

http://phpdiplomacy.net/

is a good Diplomacy site online, it looks like! A large community, ranking system, and a simple way to deal with turns (1 day period in which to take your turn, if you miss multiple turns your country is in Civil Disorder and users from outside the game can take over for you)

I registered as "Nekrotzar" and joined game "CAPS LOCK"! You guys should join 'cause it needs seven players to start and it would be nice to have other total beginners or whatever. And all my deadbeat friends are "apprehensive", when this is the sort of thing you just join as soon as you find out about it! Which I did! you should too.

Looks like fun.:) We used to have a PC version of the game...I think...and it made no sense to any of us.xD Perhaps it wasn't the same game, who knows...the game may have just sucked too.

I'll look into it, but I've been super busy lately, I think syko can attest as my posting in the spam forums has dropped dramatically.

I probably shouldn't be joining either due to busy-ness, but I AM SO THERE. come on! them slots fill up fassst! plus it's not like a commitment at all. well it is kind of but nothing is ruined if you drop out.

It's completely your choice though, of course. :)

I know, I know....my free time will evaporate, probably starting next week. 40 hour week, commitments on other websites, it'll be hard to squeeze in any time. :(

Sounds interesting, and usually I would look into it, as I barely have anything to do, but this is actually a month where I *am* very busy. Perhaps when April rolls around I'll be able to do something with it, but for now it looks like neither Peter or I will be able to. =( Sorry!

Is it wrong of me to say that I half-expected that? Or is it wrong of me to admit that the other half of me was distracted by a toaster? =P
