Someone over at squidi.net calling himself C.L. posted this. What an unpatriotic jerk!
People burn flags? I say we burn them and people like "C.L."! Freedom-haters! So I'll be going to said big fireworks celebration in a little bit. Then I'll be going right to sleep since I actually have to work tomorrow morning! See y'all [or one or none of you] tomorrow! |

He is an ignorant unpatirotic jerk! Of course we celelbrate it elsewhere! The flag burning thing reminds me of Stephen Colbert and his self defending flags, but he was too scared to test them as if they failed he would be left to blame for burning a precious american flag. It was funny. THat was a unneccessary add-on. Have fun. Despite being patriotic, fireworks annoy me. |

People are inherently self-centerred and naive, and Americans doubly so. Does it really surprise you that much how ignorant one outspoken person can be? Me, im sitting around at my grandma's house while mostly everyone else goes to the fireworks display. I am not anti-America, I simply find the basis for Independace Day intraspectively pointless. National pride should be felt year-round, but by having one day to celebrate it more so than any other, it sends the wrong message; that you need a big show of pointless lights and noise to enjoy freedom. I also loathe the commercialization of the holiday and how, for many people, it isn't even about celebrating our nation's day of independance any longer, but more about spending huge sums of money to buy dangerous and pointless entertainment while they consume detrimental amounts of alcohol and fatty foods, further expanding the truth to the rest of the world's assumptions of America. I saw an episode of the Daily Show (or maybe it was the Colbert Report; they are basically the same thing) in which they did a report on how in Massachusetts, you cannot purchase or have fireworks. They interviewed a couple who would go out of their way to drive up to a neighbooring state and purchase fireworks, then drive back and light them. And they never once mentioned how they felt the law restricted their ability to celebrate the holiday, but simply said they felt they should be able to enjoy the liberty (I am using that term sardonically) of fireworks (which perhaps they should, but that is not the point.) Here is an example of what I feel is something more seditous than patriotic; a perfect epitome of an average American couple, and they think the holiday is more about getting drunk and watching fire explode in the sky than honoring the nation and the sacrifices made so long ago. Perhaps this rant sounds nihilistic or simply a naive repeat of the very basis for the thread, but I seriously think what this holiday has become is more hypocritical than many people realize. |

What was the point of the above statement? Are you trying to start some argument? I found this thread to be light-hearted. It's annoying to talk down our country in such a serious mood. Sure Americans are fat, and lazy, but you know what? Who cares? And my God, if you want to be fat go to Whataburger, their Medium Milkshake is a 32oz!! I freaked when I saw taht, I said to myself, I'll never finish that without throwing up several times.

I appologize that you interpreted my statement as negative towards the country. I did not want to start an argument, I am simply stating my own opinion regardging the contradicting ideals of our nation's populace. |

The fireworks were quite awesome! They did cubes, and planets, and stars, and waterfalls, in addition to the traditional big booms and sparklers. A particularly cool thing they did was a firework that started out as a normal off-white colored one, but as the shrapnel fell it changed color! Awesomes! Also, I wrote the message attributed to C.L., in case you hadn't realized. Ha ha! I tricked you into calling me ignorant! |

OMG! Seroiusly, nice trick there, I can't believe I didn't catch that! Anyways, yeah, last year ours had some cool things like that going on. But last night, all I could do was here, was the neigbhors launching things that sounded like something going in a metal trash bin, and other stuff, all really weird sounds. It's amazing what a little alchemy can do!

, alchemy. Has somebody been playing a bit too much Oblivion?
So, if you wrote that message, Chalocks, what was the point of this thread other than to bait us in to indirectly calling you ignorant, thus displaying our own naive disillusionment with the world? |

Actually I heard some famous fireworks company descirbe it as the ultimate mix of alchemy and science, so that's where I got that from. And it's true, and is a fitting discription. And why can't he do it juts for kicks? And maybe for a little step in his master plan for world domination. If he can convince us that he is not him, but is really him, then I think he has a chance at his evil dream! And he did it without even trying, he just changed his name, and we didn't recognize him. GENIUS! |

I think this is less an example of his boundless genius than of our intolerable idiocy. Reading over the post again, he just does what he always does whilst quoting himself, which is he makes fun of himself in a sarcastically serious manner and then laughs while we agree with him. And besides.... Chalocks isn't evil....

Never said he was evil. He has an evil dream. Big difference. Evil=Always evil, and never dreams about being good. Good=Always dreams of being evil, but never has the guts to try!

Err.... those definitions are skewed.... So, by your logic: Evil= Always evil, but never dreams about always being evil? |
