Despite having never seen the movie in it's entirety at one time (I've probably seen that movie completely at least 20 times, just at different times) I really do like that movie. I havn't seen any of his other movies, but if they're that good then i'm sure I would enjoy them as well.

Well, syko and I have seen it, and it was very funny, however won't rank in my top 10. :(

Nor mine, but that is certainly no mark against the film. Its a very well written and executed comedy which ventures into a realm which seems unofficially taboo otherwise, and in that regard I consider it an all-time great.

I've heard, if I ever remember, which, as syko knows, I rarely do, I'll watch it the next time I'm in a video store.

Its always weird what catches your eye whilst scowering a forum for new posts. Two years ago , when Chalocks started this thread, I only knew who Kevin Smith was because he mentioned Dogma in the initial post. One year ago, when it was brought back up, I had since purchased Dogma and finally seen it a few times through in its entirety. Now, as per a friend who got me to watch more of Kevin Smith's films, I not only know who he is, but why he is so utterly awesome. While Dogma is still my favorite of his movies, as the dialogue and mythology is just so perfectly done, I must say that both Clerks and Chasing Amy are not far behind, as they have that amazingly well-flowing, intelligent dialogue as well as quirky characters and plots. In fact Chasing Amy may very well be tied with Dogma, just because of how important the subject matter was to me. And, while not nearly as poignant as the others, Mallrats is certainly woth a mention due to its entertaiment value. While I haven't seen Clerks II or Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (and have heard they aren't quite as good as the originals,) I'm sure I will eventually and will enjoy them as well.

Also, after recently rewatching each of these films, I've begun to watch My Name is Earl in episodic order. While it has nothing to do with Kevin Smith, it does feature both Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee, two of the reoccurring actors from Smith's films, as main characters. It also has a similar intelligent whim flowing through it which is reminscent of the dialogues in Smith's films. I recommend it if you do enjoy them! Sorry it's off topic, but I'm necroing anywho, so I may as well go all out! =P

Anyways, I've kinda been wanting to watch Clerks, as for the other movies, I've never heard of the.

Sorry I did not contribute to this topic properly.

I recommend watching it when you get a chance, as its actually quite brilliant in a pointlessly asinine sort of way. I think you'll at least relate to the characters in their regard towards their jobs. =P

I suppose we shall! =P I wish I had gotten you to see some f those other great movies I kept bringing with me, because now you probably never will! Of course, that has about as much to do with Kevin Smith and Buddy Jesus does with the Easter Bunny in Mallrats.

Indeed, Clerks is quite a unique and well-done film, considering that it is essentially his friends acting out what he wrote. While I still prefer the one's with more serious and important undertones, that's certainly not a mark against Clerks.

As for Earl, I'm half-way into the second season now, and I'm enjoying it more than ever!

Mallrats, guys, Mallrats :3 I love watching Willam sitting there staring at the hidden picture trying to see it, only to watch a little kid walk up and go, "Look mommy, it's a schooner!" xD And though Clerks 2 wasn't as good (they tried to be even raunchier), it was still funny :3

Oh, and btw, NECRO >:3

Indeed, Mallrats is a great little light-hearted venture. I just watched Zack and Miri Make a Porno tonight, and, while it was funny and surprising, - as are all of his films, - I still felt like it kind of lost what it could have had. There were some great quotes in it, and Seth Rogen was great as always, but, in general, it just didn't quite live up to his other films, despite being entertaining. (Justin Long as the homosexual porn star was priceless!) I'd still say Dogma is his best and Chasing Amy is my favorite.

lol, I won't deny that Dogma is the best lol, because it is without a doubt :3 It's cast was amazing, the plot hilarious, and the humor perfect. Not a lot of comedies live up to that standard! But my fav, aside from that one, is still probably Mallrats. That's just me, 'kay?

Oh, and I did like Zack and Miri Make a Porno; it was raunchy in all the right ways. I just liked the hilarious relationship between the two main characters lol, because aside from being the opposite sex, they were the exact same person lol xD

Oh yes, Dogma was wonderfully balanced and Mallrats is quite entertaining, so of course it's okay! =P

As for Zack And Miri, it did have a good amount of hilarity between them, though I still felt like there could've been more. Most of the humor was sexual, and while it was handled well and surprisingly diverse and unexpected considering the standard sexual comedy, it still wasn't quite enough for me. =P

Oh yes, definitely! Not all of a film-maker's works can be amazing, but at least it was still solid and entertaining. ^.^

That should be obvious with how sub-par Clerks 2 was in comparison to the first (still hilarious at times, but I was hoping for more D: ). Then again, almost all sequels are worse than their predecessors (just ask Disney lol).
