Will we see a new Katrina? No, but the destruction will be great, and this will be the most detailed report we'll see on BAN, becuase the news channels are going on all day now.![]() ![]() This storm is a category 5 storm with winds of 165 mph. This is another Katrina folks, alhtough it won't be like New Orleans, but I'll get to that later. ![]() As you can see it has a very tight spiral and a very well organized look to it. It has the classic spiral that is synonoyms to hurricanes. And has a very well defined high, and a low pressure, which means this is a powerfull category 5 storm. ![]() Rita's very defined eye Now we are watching a high pressure system move east, and then restrength well to the east of us, this is the driving force of the direction of the storm, if the High moves east quickly we'll see less damage and Lousiana will see the brunt, if it moves on time Houston will suffer a direct hit, and if it moves late then we'll see the bad end of it, but won't see a direct hit. ![]() That dark red area is whats keeping Rita away, but its expecting to move east and then as that happens Rita will follow the edge of that red area right into the Houston area. ![]() Here are a bunch of weather models, and as you can see they all pretty much land near each other, near Houston. The storm, if it lands as a Cat 4 or 5, WILL flood all of Galveston, and the West Side could be under 10 ft of water when this is all said and done, luckily this will go away unlike in New Orleans, also areas along the Port coudl see storm surges of 25-30 feet! Winds are expected to stay withing Hurricane Range as far north as Conroe. 3 million people from the Houston Area alone could evacuate this storm. TRAFFIC IS HORRIBLE: (Bad image qualties, but you can tell on some of them) ![]() Near Galveston, just north ![]() Closer to Galvest, just north All image auto update so yeah! |

Wow. I'm just glad I live up North where all we have to worry about is 6-foot snowfall. I feel sorry for those of you who could be affected by this.

Same with me, I'm almost scared, but not really, but kinda am. It could be more powerfull than Katrina, adn Galveston could be wiped off the map. |

Yes, no.... It won't be a cat. 5 at landfall though, we'll see hurricane force wind but nothing like the coast. |

I don't have school tomorrow! Well, It looks like it's going in your direction. I'll give you a warning: are there any trees near your houses that have a lot of wind resistance or are softwood?

All of the above, we live in the most forested area in Texas, its a problem, we're well aware. If it jogs south we get it worse then previvously expected, if it goes north better for us, its like a 50/50 chance now, so there is no point in saying its going to be better or worse, becuase it can be either easily. |

the softwood trees WILL snap and the big hardwood trees with lots of wind resistance WILL just fall if the hurricane comes close enough. It's the weirdest sound and feeling when a tree falls on your house. There is a big noise, and then the house shakes. |

Here's the latest scoop, winds in our area are expected to reach 75mph still. This WILL knock down about 25% of the trees in the area. So board up or protect your windows in some way. Stay on the first floor and on the south west corner on the house. ALSO, most of HOuston is evactaed I almost want to take a ride down there to see a deserted city. Me and syko may not be on tommorow, or hte next day, or week, so uhh...yeah. We're making a video! I'm standing in teh middle of the hurricane tommorow and filming, SO if I don't return then I'm probably dead....
