I was thinking, the 37 is one bad motha' and I know about its superior dogfighting ablities. I thought to myself;" If the US was attacked by Su-37s what would they use to take them down? ( Other than the F/A-22 ) Maybe the.....F-18? Or F-16?

First of all Su-37s arent really production aircraft so theres no chance of that. That said F-22s are stealth, aka not on radar so not being able to target them, thus pwning Su-37s

This is a hard question to tackle. We haven't seen any combat date from the 37 because the project was shelved. The Russian Air Force is downsizing due to lack of funds. At the moment, they are modernizing their Su-27 and Su-30 fleets, and overhauling the MiG-29 to be fitted with thrust vectoring engines.

Otherwise, if the Terminator were going to be produced, I don't know. The F-22 would totaly own. The F-35 maybe, or the F/A-18E. Foreign aircraft I don't know.

Remember that F-18 that got a Gun kill on a F22? That is what we can use.

If you're gonna say something like that, Tim, you need to post the link to the discussion on ACS.

Soory about that. Linky.

In short, an F/A-18F Super Hornet apparently got a gun kill in a dogfight with an F-22. Needless to day I was shocked.

So was I. But ya know what?

That was most likley wasn't the only excersise conducted that day.

And plus, that makes the F22 a rate of what? 1 to 10000000000?

To answer your question in a befitting way, only an Su-37 can rival an Su-37. :ph43r:

I believe with the U.S. arsenal, an F-16 (instead of the F-22) would have the best chance against an SU-37. Although F-15 pilots are responsible for most air to air kills, the 15's are big and bulky and made for long range attacks with long range missiles mostly. I just read a book called The Eye Of The Viper and in an actual dog fight, an F-16 could truly out manuever the F-15 any day. So, my bet would definetley go with the F-16 Viper.

IMO,

I think even though they are both smaller the Rafale and the Typhoon could give the SU-37 a run for it's money. They are both very maneuverable and have supercruise capabilities, something the SU-37 doesn't have.

It didn't say what the rules of engagement were or anything... In real life the Raptor would would win BVR.

Anyway, for the question: It's much about the combat situation as I just said. BVR, WVR it comes down to that B)

An F-16 ehe? Well that is the last thing I would expect to be able to take out an Su-37.

Well, there is the F-16 with TV and all (it can perform the Cobra with AOA limiters off  )

IMO, supercruise is only beneficial from a fuel economy POV......I would think that an a/c with afterburners is going to accelerate faster than one with supercruise.....

Yeah, but remember that supercruising a/c does have A/B's B)

I thought the whole point of supercruise was to eliminate afterburners......
