It's a 1/350th scale model of the Japanese WWII Battleship Kongo by Fujimi Models. It's quite possibly one of the best ship kits I've ever seen. I think that only the Hasegawa Nagato:

in the same scale is a better kit because it has extra detailing parts (ammo bins and such) that can be used to make the ship look "busy" rather than static. I can't wait to build 'em! ^_^

Out of curiosity reynard, how long does it typically take you to put something like that together?

Depends on how busy I am. I have a bunch of models in my "Unfinished" pile. The two closest to completion at the moment are a 1/72 scale ESCI/ERTL F-4C Phantom II that I started about five or six years ago, and a 1/72 scale AMT/ERTL KC-135A that someone gave to me already started (with all the requisite errors that an inexperienced modeler tends to make when they try to build a model far above their skill level) that I've been plugging away at for about three or four years now. (It's mainly the painting that's taken so long. The landing gear of both models has to be painted gloss white, which can require *months* to set properly.)

The Kongo and Nagato are extremely complex and could very well take eight or nine years each to build. Heck; even if I *never* get to actually build them, just having *owned* these kits makes me happy! :konahope:

Woof, that takes some clear dedication and passion for the hobby. Well bravo to you, good sir! :)

Ugh <_< May I vent?

Today we were at the mall and I was trying on some new jeans in this one store's dressing room. Well, a CERTAIN Hopetailed someone decided it would be spiffy to push the door open to ask me if I had found a pair that fit. She had the wonderfully timing of catching me between pairs of jeans

A bunch of the customers and a couple employees saw me too. It was utterly mortifying :(

And regardless of WHAT said little girl tells you, I was SO NOT checking out how my butt looked in the dressing room mirror <_<

I considered making her ride home in the trunk, but then I thought she might actually enjoy that...

Wow, where were you shopping, chika? Most places I go, the dressing room doors lock once they're shut and can either only be opened from the inside or require a key to open.

But still, thaaaaaaaat sucks. Shoulda played it up and turned around, pushed your butt out and asked if they liked what they saw! LOL!!!! ;)

The weather here has done a traditional Iowa flip-flop, becoming suddenly cold and damp. Getting out of bed has been painful for a few days. :(

So I don't follow UK politics: is this a good thing or a bad thing? (I'm curious because I DO know I've seen a lot of talk of this on Twitter, I just wasn't really paying a lot of attention to it)

It actually got quite warm here recently, but the past few days have gone back to being chilly :grumpfaith: It was like a quick tease!

Well, New England weather and all...

To some it's considered a good thing. For me it's a bad thing, I don't want a Conservative Party PM. I voted wanting to make sure they don't get in office, but now they're in a coalition government with the party I voted for.

Annoyed is me :sadhope:

Good grief! I think you should start wearing the butt equivalent of a lead apron when you're around Hope. She... seems to be going through some sort of "butt phase". :happyhope:

I had an interesting happening last night. In fact, here's my interesting happening in audio form:

http://audioboo.fm/boos/128287-i-ve-been-p...is-was-my-night

I mean, for crying out loud, our waiter's name was Gustavo. You wont find Gustavo at an Applebees :P

The one thing I don't like about really fancy restaurants is that I feel like all they do is brag about how awesome they are when they're telling you about their different menu items and such. But I guess that holier than thou attitude comes with some people of class.

Now that does my heart good to hear :) I swear, too many people wouldn't take the time to help someone out like that nowadays.

You earned that warm-fuzzy feeling! :D

I'm getting started on the revision for my GCSE exams. I managed to do 1 & 3/4 Maths papers in 1 & a half hours. Not to bad for a person who couldn't be bothered to work a year ago :konahope:

I'm back on twitter, but I dunno how to use it properly. Which is pretty embarrassing seeing as I live & adore the technological world I live in.

I'm also considering finding another hobby to take up. Seeing as watching TV, sleeping & playing Rock Band aren't real hobbies. I need to find something relaxing & fun that isn't too demanding.

Nicely done! :hope:

Well, I'm a Twitter addict, so if you have any questions, I'm sure I could help you out.

My hobby has become more of an obsession/ hopeful future job, so I'm not the one to ask there
