I know, right! I have more pressing matters to attend to! (though I guess that's what this vacation week is for  ) So far I haven't accomplished as much as I expected to this vacation week, but I'm only in the middle! There's still much time to make use of

As you lot may have noticed, I haven't been on the forum recently; that is down to two things. 1. From Friday to Early Tuesday, I had no Internet connection. So using my iPhone for it proved to be hard as my house has a poor connection to 3G networks. 2. About 8 hours after the internet was put back on, I went to sleep & woke up to find my computer had ran out of battery. However when I put the plug back in, the computer was on but the screen wasn't. Yesterday I took it to the computer repair place to find my laptop STILL under warranty after nearly 4 years! I got an e-mail from them this morning saying that my laptops logic board had died, luckily for me my hard drive wasn't affected & all the data is safe. It should be able to have my computer back by next week! Which is good news, I got pretty angry & upset over it I can tell ya. |

So I was trying to t do quick internet research on child custody paperwork earlier so I could be sure a couple things I was saying in some upcoming comics I'm writing was accurate, and you know I couldn't find a simple answer to my query (most likely because things don't happen as simply as I've laid them out with Sara and Hope). Essentially I wanted to know where Sara had to bring Hope's custody papers. Child services? The town hall? An attorney? Wal-Mart? (OK, that last one's a joke ). I sure don't know. I've never taken custody of a child. I don't even HAVE a child (that I know of) .......(apologies for that awful joke :P). All the results I was coming up with were getting too lost in the actual process of battling for the custody of a child and what to do in court. Clearly that's not relevant to what's going on in AIAC.So, I'm publicly stating that I hereby say: screw it  This is a comic featuring a girl with cat-ears; I think don't think EVERY detail must be based in reality anymore. So yes, I may be taking some creative liberties with the whole "adopting a child" process. It goes with the story, since these are already pretty unconventional means for taking custody of a kid anyway. I did contact my mother, who works in a school system. She believed that child custody papers would be given to a lawyer who would handle them from there. I'll be going with that, because mom's are always right ![]() So there you go. That means, no e-mails saying "mmm, that's not QUITE how it works Tom..." In fact....oooo....OOO! You know what, I think I know how to use this to ADD to the story.....*rubs hands together* Oh yes, that'll do nicely

It seems to vary so much by state, and be kept under such deep layers of bureaucracy, that you could say pretty much anything you want & the only people who'd know better wouldn't care enough to say anything ![]() I have an Aunt in Arizona who spent a lot of time with that, and *she* has an actual lawyer for a daughter-in-law (which helped a lot, I can tell you!), but their knowledge would most likely have *no* bearing on whatever part of New England this is in. Come to think of it, you haven't even *named* a state - which pretty much leaves you wide open! |

I think you have a point there. I just can't help but think: it's the internet...SOMEBODY'S going to complain But if they're THAT concerned with the precise legal process on display, I think they're missing the point of AIAC anyway
Who says it's not? ............(it's not though). |

I'm back from Anime Expo... and slightly depressed... I had such a freaking amazingly good time that I did not want it to end. I rented a suite (not a room, a suite) at the freaking luxurious Westin Bonaventure, and shared it with three (occasionally four) of my closest internet friends whom I'd never met in real life before. We got along so well... oh yeah, two of them are artists who make a lot of their money by going to cons and selling art. I took a bunch of pics of the convention and the hotel (but none of the room we stayed in, not sure why I forgot): http://www.flickr.com/photos/docsigma/sets...57624400409932/ |

Dang, that's awesome Doc! I really wish I could get out to this con. It sounds so great. And yeah, meeting online friends in person for the first time is pretty darn cool. Did you meet any voice actors or anything? Gotta comment on a couple of the pics: .........why? Best cosplay ever! You bought some right? Please tell me you bought some! Interesting promotional tool. What is "Deathsmile?" I've never heard of it? Whatcha watchin'? |

1) No clue. I didn't notice until AFTER I TOOK THE PIC that he's holding a sword. Like, the hell? 2) Oh yes! I saw him around a lot. I even saw him going down a flight of stairs with much assistance from a friend. Took like 20 minutes. 3) I didn't. Anything remotely resembling a hat just does not fit me. If you're familiar with hat sizes, my hat size would be a 9. Yeah, a 9, when 7.5 is considered huge. I did buy TONS of other stuff though!4) It's some sort of RPG, I think. A lot of my Twitter friends are into it. I must check it out sometime. 5) I spent a great deal of my time in the video rooms (it's one of my favorite things to do at cons!)... um... I believe we were watching Samurai Champloo at the time? I think. Oh, and I didn't meet anyone famous unfortunately. I tend to not go to panels and stuff... I mostly go for the exhibit hall (buying stuff!), video rooms, and just being around my fellow otaku and people-watching and stuff. Incidentally, I am already pre-registered for Anime Expo 2011. They offered a special deal for AX2010 attendees to register way ahead of time for almost free. My friends and I have decided to make this an annual tradition! It's awesome! We got along so well. We're all exactly the same in real life as online, which is pretty darn cool and rare. We actually referred to each other by our online names... which I guess was normal for them, but not so much for me. I'm very used to being called Doc online, but in real life I've always been Chris. But I didn't mind, and totally got used to it. Heck, even my two friends who are engaged to be married called each other by their online nicknames! Apparently they do that in real life all the time! Such a cute couple. ![]()
I, on the other hand, am $20. Same as in town. (...sorry) |

One thing I will say, being free is awesome ![]() But sometimes it'll get boring :sadhope:, but it still reeks of awesomesauce! ![]() Anyway, tomorrow I'm off to the British Grand Prix Qualifying at Silverstone! I'll have to leave home at 5:00am to get there in good enough time to do stuff. I'm going as my Dad was invited as a guest of a company, & the person he was going to go with pulled out. So I was asked by my Dad if I would go with him! I'll be meeting some F1 legends, having a Q&A session with a team & watching the thing in brilliant seats along with getting a walk of the pit lane. Awesome or what?

Let me see if I can remember everything I bought! * Three two-poster sets from MangaGamer. For spending over $50, I got a free bag, a free t-shirt (way too small for me so I gave it to a friend), AND a free mousepad! One of those mousepads with... an interesting wrist-rest... very ecchi! Speaking of ecchi, each set consisted of two posters, but you couldn't see the second one (it was hidden behind the first one), and in each case the second poster was... very ecchi! But still cute! * A huge Lucky Star wall scroll * A big plastic tube for transporting the above * Two DVDs of the anime "To LoveRu" (the complete 26-episode set) * A rather large plushie of Sakura Kinomoto from "Cardcaptor Sakura". It came with TWO outfits (school outfit and a kimono) and for some reason it was only five dollars! * A $20 "grab bag". These are always fun, even if they're a gamble. My grab bag contained a plush Cookie Monster in ghetto clothing (really now?), some sort of Japanese Polly Pocket-like thing (a little "beauty salon" with a tiny figure, very cute), and a bunch of teeny tiny figures and keychains. Totally worth the $20! It even contained a Mameshiba keychain which my friend told me was very rare and worth the $20 alone. * Figures! Good lord, so many figures... a three-figure set of Vocaloids (mini ones with big heads, very cute), a four-figure set of mini figures from an anime whose name escapes me now, a HUGE (like 1/6 scale) figure of Mikuru Asahina from "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" dressed like a nurse, a pretty big figure of Miyuki Tahara from "Lucky Star", and five-six-ish-I-forget figures from animes whose names I totally don't know but I bought them because I liked them and they were cute. For my 30th birthday (which took place while I was out there), my friends took me out to dinner and also bought me this adorable figure of a girl who was selling oranges... or something... she was using part of her skirt like a satchel to hold a big bunch of oranges. Very very cute! ![]() I'm a huge kinda scary looking guy but I live for cute.
