So at work today, Dyana and I were eating in the employee cafeteria when all of a sudden we heat a drum rhythm beat......thing. We realize it's some guy who came around the corner at sat down at one of the tables. He was playing music off his phone or something without any headphones; just right out loud. It was really rather rude, considering just how loud he had it and how many other people there were sitting around. I decided to whip out my phone and try to record it. Guess what? It was indeed audible: http://audioboo.fm/boos/138966-jackass-in-...loyee-cafeteria So yeah. Thanks jerk. Really, people that have no consideration for other people around them REALLY rub me the wrong way Ah well, at least we got a good laugh out of it with this.

I do that all the time, I hate that my music is restricted to only ME hearing it. I want ALL to hear the wonder of my music. Hell, let me tell you a story. This happened to me a couple of years ago but it's still epic: I was on a train back from town that was practically empty, I decided to take out my Mum's iPhone (that I was borrowing) & give the music a spin. I added some Rush favs of mine to test it's speakers, 2112 (the full 20:30 song) to be precise. Suddenly this guy came up to me wondering what the noise was, he told me he actually liked what he was hearing! He then asked me who the band was & what albums were their best. He then stated "Awesome, I'll buy their albums next time I'm in town! Thanks for the awesome music". Yup, I ended up getting a total stranger into Rush... EPIC F***KING WIN FOR ME

I'm in a weird position because I can relate and I can disagree with you. I know the feeling of wanting to expose others to the music you love. When I really get into a song or a band, all I want to do is get as many people I know into it as well. That's why I love the "Now Playing" thread, heh. If you can turn someone on to a band or album that they weren't aware of......well, that's just a really cool feeling. Plus you're helping the musicians you love when you think about it! At the same time, there's a time and a place for that. Using my Audioboo as an example, this is a lunch room where people are trying to enjoy a break from work and converse with each other, watch one of the TVs, or read. Coming in with your music blaring is very distracting and or disturbing. Most people don't want to hear that, and they shouldn't have to in that scenario. Headphones are respectful. That's my opinion at least. There can be other times where I can see doing that as perfectly valid though. And getting a stranger into Rush like that is pretty dang cool!

I'm frequently exposed to the world's worst music on the tube in the morning, since commuters seem to think that I want to be able to hear whatever they're listening to on their iPods. Oddly enough, I don't. I mean, I listen to music on the way to work, but I have it at a volume where I can still hear a conversation above the music (don't want to deafen myself). The only thing that makes the whole thing worse is when the person next to me is listening to Beyonce at an ear-splitting volume and everyone's looking at me like it's me!!! |

On the editorial side of things, I have wrote my 5th Official Music Review today! I actually started this a few months ago but only finished it this morning. I have to say this was probably the most difficult one for me to write because it's been almost a year since I last made one & I feel a bit rusty. Check it out here: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review_37372 |

I hope so too, even though the people on the site don't give a s**t about what I do. They just make fun of me because they don't like my music taste. I do plan on doing more reviews soon, just watch the space. |

I have to say... I was blown away by it all. It was probably the best gig I've been to. They have so much energy, the songs were performed flawlessly. I have to say the best song played all night IMO was Jesus Of Suburbia... it was so passionate, so real. It was also the song I went absolutely nuts in. Here's the setlist: 'Song of the Century' '21st Century Breakdown' 'Know Your Enemy' 'East Jesus Nowhere' 'Holiday' 'The Static Age' 'Give Me Novacaine' 'Are We The Waiting' 'St. Jimmy' 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' 'Nice Guys Finish Last' 'Burnout' 'Waiting' 'Geek Stink Breath' 'Dominated Love Slave' 'Hitchin' A Ride' 'Welcome To Paradise ' 'When I Come Around' 'Iron Man'/'Sweet Child O' Mine'/'Highway To Hell' 'Brain Stew' 'Panic Song' 'Jaded' 'Longview' 'Basket Case' 'She' 'King For A Day' 'Shout'/'Teenage Kicks'/'(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction'/'Hey Jude'/'Paint It Black' '21 Guns' 'Minority' Encore 1: 'American Idiot' 'Jesus Of Suburbia' Encore 2: 'When It's Time' 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)' The gig was also immensely funny too. The kid who went up to be the kid "being sent to hell" in East Jesus Nowhere was an Irish kid, we booed him. Billie made a joke about the Irish not being in the World Cup, & then told him to "get his Irish ass out of here". A girl was brought on stage, who immediately glomped Billie & did a stage dive. A boy was brought on stage... HE WAS TOLD TO SING LONGVIEW, the whole thing. Being 15 years old, Billie asked him "You had sex with a woman before?", when the kid responded with no Billie joked "You'll be having a lot of it after this". He took a swig of Champagne during it too before doing a stage dive. Along with that, a guy in a pink bunny suit came out. Drinking loads of alcohol & doing pole dance routines to Michael Jackson music, HOW EPIC IS THAT? Along with that during a giant medley, Tre Cool walked around like a model with a girls hat & a bra on, before singing & dancing like an idiot. I laughed so much at that ![]() I came away from this gig with pulled muscles in both my arms, both my legs & neck, strained vocal chords, meh hearing, a busted finger (it cut open accidentally & I was bleeding during Holiday... very early on in the gig) & a feeling afterwards of being absolutely wasted... but it was worth it Billie mentioned that this was the single biggest headlining gig they had ever done. That coupled with there excellent performance, & their immense praise for the English & what we as a country contributed to music. Made this a night I will NEVER, EVER forget. I am OFFICIALLY a Green Day fan now, that show has converted a person who used to hate these guys years ago... into a loving fan. Thanks for the epic night guys! Here's a few pics: The view I had from my seat (the camera is a bit further away than I actually was seeing it from) ![]() The crowd during Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, it was f***ing huge ![]() The graphic on my T-shirt ![]() Here are two other reviews that will probably describe it better than I could: http://www.lookatbowen.com/2010/06/green-d...une-2010-review http://web.nme.com/news/green-day/51582 |

Wow, that looks truly epic, base don those pictures. That's crazy they had Joan Jett and the Hearts as an opening act! Pretty impressive. I really like the design on the shirt! The one I got has the inside cover art on the front:![]() And a girl spray-painting the date and the venue of the concert on the back. I was wearing it today, oddly enough! Sounds like you had an amazing time I knew you would! I'm glad you were able to go and experience it. One thing I can say about Green Day is that they REALLY care about their fans, and they show it to know end during their live shows. Not to mention their sense of humor. They are just one of the most FUN bands to see live, and that's not counting how legitimately great a show they put on MUSICALLY!When I saw them, they actually brought a different person on stage to sing each verse of "Longview." Interesting they did it with just one person this time. That must be such an amazing moment to be picked to do that. I would freak! And now you know where the bunny during the Green Day: Rock Band loading screens comes from They switched up their setlist some since I saw them during the first "21st Century Breakdown" tour last year. It's a little disapointing to not see more traces of their first two albums on there (during the one I went to, along with "Dominated Love Slave," we got "Christie Road" and "Only Of You"). Still though, that's an AWESOME setlist. There's a few songs on there I didn't hear that I'm extremely jealous about (specifically: "Panic Song" and "Burnout"). "Iron Man'/'Sweet Child O' Mine'/'Highway To Hell" and "Shout'/'Teenage Kicks'/'(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction'/'Hey Jude'/'Paint It Black" are definitely new though! I hadn't heard they were playing those songs. Oh man, I really hope they play those when I see them in August. I'm so curious as to what their renditions sound like!Glad to hear the concert had such an effect on you. And I'm very happy to call you a fellow fan Now go out and get yourself their albums you don't have

After the awesomeness that was Green Day, I got struck with some bad news. MY IPHONE IS BROKEN! ![]() I showed my Dad the crowd photos from the gig, got in the car to go see Mum at the hospital & it just wasn't coming on or anything. It was fully charged the night before, I even put it on the charger again but it didn't come on. I'm going into London next week to the Apple shop/O2 shop that my Dad got it from to have it looked at... I hope it gets fixed

Aww, that sucks CreamCrazy I know I'd be lost without my iPhone.Maybe it's not in the budget, but there's also the option of upgrading it to that spiffy new iPhone 4 that's coming out. I'd like one, but my iPhone 3G still works perfectly, aside from the battery life starting to lose its luster and a couple small cracks on the back. So I can't see justifying the purchase.......yet. |

I have no financial interest in saying this... that being said, I strongly recommend purchasing an app called Battery Doctor. It gives your app a "full cycle charge", which the iPhone is incapable of doing on its own -- it's a much more full charge, and actually demonstrably extends the overall life of the battery. |

Actual fact! Rechargeable stuff, especially the "smarter" sort, usually gets recharged long before it really needs it, and eventually it starts to "think" it's starving when it's not really so low. The software puts it through sort of a "fasting" cycle to get it straightened out. Funny how artificial intelligence first starts appearing in the form of artificial dumbness, eh?

*phew* I'm glad you like it and aren't offended or something (I knew you wouldn't be, but some artists probably would be). It's a verse from "Suicide Is Painless", the theme song from the movie MASH. The same theme song was used in the television series, but the television series used an instrumental version, which is probably more well-known. Which is a shame since the movie is much better in my opinion... much more of a dark comedy than the series was. Anyway, this is now much too long of an answer so I'm going to bed.
