I'm getting started on the revision for my GCSE exams. I managed to do 1 & 3/4 Maths papers in 1 & a half hours. Not to bad for a person who couldn't be bothered to work a year ago :konahope:

I'm back on twitter, but I dunno how to use it properly. Which is pretty embarrassing seeing as I live & adore the technological world I live in.

I'm also considering finding another hobby to take up. Seeing as watching TV, sleeping & playing Rock Band aren't real hobbies. I need to find something relaxing & fun that isn't too demanding.

Nicely done! :hope:

Well, I'm a Twitter addict, so if you have any questions, I'm sure I could help you out.

My hobby has become more of an obsession/ hopeful future job, so I'm not the one to ask there

Basically all I know is how to follow people & type in tweets.

I don't understand the @person thing & how taht works. it's just confusing

Oh, you type @ before a person's name if you are speaking directly to them. Then, even if they don't follow you, they can see what you say to them in their "@" time-line. That's why it's often called "at reply."

You would also use it if you are referencing someone on Twitter in your tweet. That way, people who don't follow that person but read your tweet, can click on the name and then be directed to their Twitter page.

Twitter is bad-ass. I wouldn't know half the cool people I do without it.

I've joined this small group here (not in the internets, but here in Israel) something like a "Knowledge Bank", where you teach someone something and he teaches you something in return.
Its really fun, I am teaching someone Parkour and he is teaching me how to
skate with a skateboard aswell as doing tricks :D

its neat, but we both suck at what the other is teaching xD

I recently stumbled upon a website that I'm finding quite useful

Have you ever liked something like say a band, a moive, a TV show, a book or an author & wanted to find stuff similar to that? Well TasteKid.com does that. You type in the name of what you want to search & it will give you a list of similar things to that. By clicking on an option it will give you a video clip of the thing in question along with a profile of it. You can then rate it & then search for more.

I find it useful if I'm looking for more music, which I always want to do. Go to this site, it' may be useful to you

Had to check Wikipedia for that one... cool! I do a little of that now & then just for fun, never realized it had a name or organized groups & stuff!

I'm in lousy athletic condition so there's only so much I can do, but I've got long limbs & good spacial sense. (not to mention I can't seem to think *inside* the box, which kinda makes it come naturally) ;)

To be honest, most people think of it like that, or like this;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U98gCLEZhc

but it aint really that, its more of a way of life, and its also like all the rest of the things you can learn like Kong-Fu or Judo, its something that can help you in everything;

Something extremely important needs to be delivered, the Traceur will get it done faster.
Cant fight and need to flee? The Traceur will be the fastest the flee
and much much more.

Its something that not only expands your line of thought, but also increases the athletic quallaties and much more

But with great positives comes great negatives.

its highly disliked, there is no offical place to learn it,
for the unexpririanced there may be medium to large wounds, from scrapes and scratches to broken bones and even being disabled in certin ways.

So join a group of them, practice together, and have fun :D

We had our office birthday celebration today..........but you could have fooled me because I was just about the only person who brought in food :grumpfaith: (one other person ended up bringing in some cupcakes). It was rather disappointing. I reminded everyone the day before. Maybe they've just come to rely on the kick ass stuff I tend to bring in :P

There was the quarterly company meeting today as well (and I must point out, we have a HUGE company, so this is a big shabang in an auditorium with videos and giant screens). Didn't hear a whole lot of interesting stuff (and once again no news on when bonuses will be returning). But I got a free bag of M&Ms out of the deal so.......everything balances out? I guess we got them because they're opening an M&Ms store, so it was to celebrate that.

So I got to see one of my favorite bands in concert last night! I was off with my good buddies Tim and (AIAF's own) Dyana to see AFI :happyhope:

The concert took place in the middle of Providence, RI. Everytime I go to a city, I'm reminded why I'd never be able to survive in a city. They make me so nervous. I've apparently spent WAY too much of my life in a small town. But anyway, it was taking place outside in a skating rink area. Here's the area from the outskirts where we were lined up:

http://yfrog.com/0mn7hj

We got in line early since it was first come first served seating, and we wanted to be as close to the stage as possible. AFI is Dyana's absolute favorite band of all time after all, so she was excited to be as close as possible. Though as you can see from that pic, there wasn't seating. To be that close, you had to stand. So we said what the heck, lets just have the full on concert experience and stand amongst the front. Here's Tim and Dyana and the stage:

http://yfrog.com/5yi8zj

Apparently I caught Dyana mid-blink. Whoops  Sorry Dee! Anyway, the first opening act was a band called New Politics. They were actually really quite good! The lead singer was doing all sorts of crazy break dancing and flips on stage. I definitely want to see more of this band as they develop! Here they are:

http://yfrog.com/2850mj

Next was a band called Violent SoHo. At first they were pretty neat, but then every song sounded exactly the same. Plus the lead singer was kind of lackluster. I could have done without them. But holy crap, they were playing so hard and loud they were shaking the stage rigging! Interestingly enough, they were there own roadies. Kind of funny to see a bunch of guys set up, then have the band introduced, walk out, and be the same guys :P Here's them:

http://yfrog.com/4joidfj

As they were playing their set, the space around us in the mass of people was getting tighter and tighter. Really not a comfortable place for someone as crowd-weary as me to be, but I was gonna put up with it for AFI. People were starting to get pushy too, as it got closer and closer for AFI to come out. Working there way to the front, even though we had all lined up early. I literally had to block a couple people and tell them there was no space. If they wanted to be up front, they should have been there early like we were. Then AFI came out......and all hell broke loose...

Look, I haven't been to a great deal of concerts, but I've been to enough to say this took me by complete surprise. As AFI was coming out to the stage to the opening riff of "Medicate," the crowd immediately, without build up or warning, just started moshing and pushing each other left and right, going freaking bat-s*** crazy! I was missing everything that was happening on stage because I was being thrown left and right and slammed into all these people. Tim and Dyana looked liked deer caught in headlights. So I grabbed Dee's shoulder, yelled "I'm getting the f*** out of here!!!" and was hoping they would follow my lead. I then proceed to quite literally plow through people behind me. Quite unapologetically too. I couldn't help it, but then I was pissed beyond belief. 1.) Because these a**h**** were making me miss my favorite AFI song, and 2.) I was afraid they were ruining the show for Dyana who was looking forward to it so much.

Look, I know moshing and stuff happens at concerts. But I was NOT expecting it at this one (especially based on what I've seen at other concerts I've been too). And I'm sorry, I'm usually "hey, to each their own" and "if that's your thing, whatever." But no, not here: that was utterly stupid. I go to a concert to see a band I enjoy, not thrash around like a friggin' idiot. I don't see the point in that at all. You're not watching the show and people are just gonna get hurt. Maybe that's un-rock of me, but I don't care. It's unnecessary and stupid.

So yeah, we stood in line for hours for nothing apparently <_< But, once we got out of the fray and further back, not only did we have more elbow room, but we got to enjoy the show for what it was. And let me tell you, AFI put on an AMAZING performance. Their sound is really something special to hear live. Some of what Jade does with his guitar is simply magic. And Davey Havoc has such a voice!!! My gosh, the range on that guy. He's seriously one of my favorite front-men! Here's them on stage:

http://yfrog.com/jknt8ij

So yes, the show definitely did not disappoint, even if the people around us did. The IHOP we found ourselves in after the show felt like a safe haven to us. I think my face says it all, on both the positive and negative accounts ;)

H.P. Lovecraft *loved* Providence, so much it ended his marriage when his wife got a job in Chicago. Couldn't bear the thought of living anyplace else. I'll leave the interpretation up to the reader though ;)

That takes me back.... I've been in some intense moshes; Metallica, Pantera, Ozzy, a *lot* of White Zombie, etc. They're pretty scary if you're not used to it. It helped a lot that my roommate & I were both over 200 lbs and very solid on our feet; smaller people used to stand next to us just for a little shelter.

(I woulda come if ya'd asked...!) ;)

Once a guy slammed into my back & knocked my glasses off (I'd forgotten to leave them in the car). I caught them in midair and turned around; apparently the look in my eyes was so intimidating he literally collapsed gushing apologies. My roommate got a hell of a kick out of that! :D

Well, you guys have seen some pictures of me. I'm not exactly a little guy. When I say I literally plowed through the people behind us, I mean LITERALLY plowed through the people behind us. Despite hating the game, I think I become a quarterback and was just dividing people with raming myself between them, a glare of pure death, and shouting things like "MOVE!" "LOOK OUT!" "F***ING MOVE!!!"

Normally I'm a very kind person, but they had me at my worst in that moment  But hey, it became a damn war zone. I can be forgiving for being a little curt. Besides, I think Tim got a few good elbow jabs on some jerks' kidneys as we were escaping :P

It's funny the things that end up being important to you in those moments. In retrospect I'm REALLY glad my glasses didn't fall off in that melee, because they very well could have. No, when this happened, my hand took a firm safe grip on my iPhone that was hanging on my belt  I'm such a dork. Why protect something "delicate" (;)), when you can save your phone! :P

One nice thing about moshers is that they *will* always let you pass if you make it clear that you want to. (at least, if the direction is *away* from the stage...)

One show I was at, there was this 12-ish girl up front who was getting really dehydrated... several of us helped her over the wall so security could get her some water. And even if you can't keep your feet, the press of bodies is tight enough that you don't really need to; you can sort of just drift in the waves. A really serious mosh can be terrifying if you've never been in one, but everyone's there to have fun. I've often seen several people helping someone up when they stumbled. There's certainly no way "stage diving" would work without that spirit of cooperation.

Thing about glasses is you can see *exactly* where they are, and you know the *instant* they move.... ;) I normally can't catch anything, but when they're right in front of my face and moving directly into *better* focus it's hard *not* to!

I've heard similar things said about mosh pits before. I'm sure there was plenty people like that in this crowd too. In fact, I know there were. And I do feel bad if I was rude to any of THOSE people. But, unfortunately, we were stuck by a bunch of jerks who didn't care much for the people around them :(
