EDIT: Dammit, another title with a typo! Can an admin or whoever edit that? It's supposed to read "Out of Character".

My own little webcomic. OoC is a webcomic about RPGs and the people who play them, from Kingdom Hearts, to City of Heroes, to the millions of play-by-post Twilight forums.

http://negativity-sucks.com/ooc/

It's sort of a metafictional look at the world of gaming through the eyes of several characters, many of which have not been introduced yet. So yeah, I need to learn to keep my updates on time and make the strips faster, but I'm working on it.

I swear, Boomer is not a Hope rip-off. She was based on my little sister and Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls. That sorta equals Hope, but even so...

Seems pretty interesting Gen. Some of it is a little lost on me because I don't really play RPGs and such now. I did like "Nowhere silly kitty!" though!

Hey, as long as she refers to her hair as Hopetails, she's cool ;)

She actually does, though it hasn't come up yet.

This looks to be an awesome comic, but there is one thing that bugs me.
The art makes it really hard to see what a character is doing.

Apart from that, keep going!

Could you clarify, please? I'm not sure what you mean by the art making it hard to see what a character is doing.

I make it a point not to give contructive criticism unless it's asked for. I'm not sure what theopenandclosedbook is specifically referring to Gen, but if you'd like I could offer a few thoughts.

Not that I'm an expert of any kind yet, but I like to help :)

And thanks for putting that guest strip up with a link to AIAC!

K, I'll be happy to give you some :) I must apologize though, I really don't have time to properly do so tonight, and I'm going to be away until Saturday night.

Hope you don't mind waiting a couple days :( But I WILL give you some!

OK, so, I don't think it would be fair for me to critique your writing, as like I said, I'm not all that familiar with the subject matter.

As for the art, I like the looseness you have to your lines. I think a lot of artists out there employ that style very well to make the characters look very lively and such. It's something I'm trying to learn to do more of myself. I'm very particular with my lines.

One thing I would point to is having black and white characters on colored background. I'm not so sure that works well. I think this is partly what theopenandclosedbook was referring to. Your eye kind of loses focus on the characters. I don't think it would be as noticeable as it is if you had stronger and more varied line work. The lines that make up your characters in most of the strips are very thin. I think you'd well to considering making them thicker. I think the characters would stand out better that way. You may also want to make some lines of the character thicker than others to emphasize different parts (that's something I'm trying to find the finesse of myself actually).

How's that? :)

Thanks, Tom. I appreciate it.

My scanner seems to be working again, so I'll be able to keep on making strips :D

Don't you just hate character derailment?

Spit-take! Woo! :D

And hoorah for skirts with boots apparently nothing else on?

Anyway, nice! That topic's something I CAN'T STAND about a lot of superhero, science fiction, etc. stories.

That strip was based on a true story. A fellow player in an RPG killed off Superman and this kicked off a lot of development for my characters. Half a month later, she revives him. The last panel is pretty much what went through my head. Well, that and horrible rage that my characters were suddenly totally derailed (his death was a major motivation) and that the admin gave the go-ahead.

Ohhh, I see. That does sound like quite the waste.

I guess art imitates life, even if it's a fantasy life :)

Seems the links no longer work. Is your comic defunct now?

I'm actually working on reviving it as we speak. The updating schedule is going to be different though.

I'm thinking of updating by the story arc, rather than by the strip when that happens.
