Shabby wins the deal, but it doesn't surprise me it went through. Colby has made no secret his love for Caleb.

Trading Sidebottom for Steven to me is just tinkering with the dynamic of my team. Steele's been moved to the wing this year and whilst he's still had a very good season, he frequently scores between 80-105. That's fine for a starting midfielder but I feel like I have too many of these types.
Steven on the other hand will have a lot more bad games than Sidebottom, but he also has a lot more scores over the 120 mark.
I'm basically just trying to find the balance between guys who'll bring in a good score every week, and the who I'll have to put up with some bad games for but pay off huge in big games.

The other side of this is Caleb Daniel, the boy is a deadset jet in one of the most valuable positions in modern footy. Clubs would move heaven and earth to get the kind of delivery into the forward fifty that Caleb already provides the dogs, great to have him back.

Yeah like this deal for both parties. I probably prefer Sidey but your points are valid Colbs.

Still reckon next year B.Ellis is a SD and that tips it to Shabby for me short term but i agree on Daniel i just love the way he plays the game. Nice win-win dare i say it.

Ellis ain't gonna be a defender, all those touches he gets running back to the half back flank are just a function of his role as a winger. During stoppages Ellis still lines up as a full time midfielder, but when Richmond hit the switch it's his job to be on the edge of the far-side fifty and run with the footy.

I'd actually prefer Colberts side of this one.
Good to see a big like for like trade go through. It's easier to trade when coaches are looking to meet different objectives. Much harder to pull the trigger on ones like this where you're basically backing yourself in to beat the other guy.
Unfinished business.
