advance tl;dr: i haven't slept for like 3 days and want traids Okay so I've decided that I'm going to make some minor tweaks to my strategy and would like to attack this draft a little more than I am - or at least change the range I'm in a bit. As a result a few blokes who I perhaps wasn't as eager to trade before are a little more open. In particular I'm referring to Jack Crisp, Martin Gleeson, Ben Griffiths, Luke McDonald and Adam Tomlinson Although everyone else with the exception of Bontempelli, Boyd, Whitfield, Wingard and Witts are on the table (those 5 definitely will cost more than you're likely to pay. MacRae and Hoskin-Elliott likely will but I won't put them in the same batch). I'm also more open to trading pick 2 than I was previously (so I owe those who'd previously made perfectly respectable offers that I shut down an apology, now). Pick 2 (if you're thinking straight) will/should be Angus Brayshaw. There's a clear top 2 AFFLwise in this draft. Brayshaw's a big bodied tall-ish inside mid who does have an outside game and is the most dual sided player I've seen in a long time. He's a low flash but high substance kind of player, and with his style and size he should impact early (which, as we've seen with Dunstan - irrelevant of whether that's exactly what people expected pre draft, boosts value on here big time when it actually happens) and I'd be surprised if he didn't make it as a pretty darn good scorer. I essentially think he's a poor man's Ollie Wines at this stage (but then again I don't think many people expected Wines to dominate so quickly, hence why he went @7 - Brayshaw's a marginally safer bet than Wines was but that's irrelevant as Wines made it, and Brayshaw is yet to). Quite simply AFFL for me is as much about being satisfied and enjoying my list as it is winning and Brayshaw - while as safe a bet as any draftee of late, is not a player I'd enjoy having on my list. He's just not my type. So pick 2 is up for trade too. It's not a fire sale though. I'm pretty content with who I'll be taking with picks 6 through 8 though I'd be partial to downgrading one of them (preferably 8) to a later pick if the deal suited us both. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What I'm after is a mixture of top 15 picks next year (pretty much any 1st that isn't projected to be top 4 on AFFL) and top 30 picks this year. I've seen the value of picks this year (and while it's a bit more linear/less exponential at the top this year compared to most) isn't great so obviously I'm not going to give you a proven good player who I paid pick 10 for for pick 30 but I'm open to taking on picks. I can take on 2 for 1 as I've only got 36 but quite simply I'm not sure I want to as there rarely is a winning deal when you gain quantity. But I'm open to trying. But mainly I'm just keen for some no bullshit talks. I've barely spoken to anyone on here about trades for a month and that kinda sucks. I'm not a coach who builds lists by being a nifty and smart trader - if I tried to I'd lose out - I'm someone who backs myself in to pick breakouts/talents and draft well (which allows my lists to remain relatively neutral to cancel out for my below average trading) - as such if you're keen on obsessing about adding 5 cents here or there to sweeten the deal I really can't be fucked negotiating with you. I'm going to actively try and work on my style in talks from now to be a little better to deal with, more receptive in general and more proactive in talks (which I hope benefits us both!) and I'm going to try and lead with respectable offers (so to those who make shitty first offers, get countered with fair offers and then demand to meet in the middle (the middle being a biased deal ofc.) I don't really have any interest). Quite simply I'm only interested in talks that involve no bullshit, no attempts at rape and both parties contribute to the legwork. I'd hope that's 17 other coaches but I know that there are a few on the site who refuse to do legwork so this is why I'm saying this - don't bother trying to trade with me if that's you. In short I'm going to try and be more like the boofs of the world and less like the spuds. But unlike Boof (who manages to deal with it very well and persist, it seems) i don't have the patience not to walk when people start being cunts. Sorry for the long message - it's probably dissuaded most from any interest anyway, but we know what I'm like with brevity and concision. Sorry about that. But yeah, I'm keen to trade. So PM me or post in here if you're keen for some (hopefully higher quality) talks. If you're not, that's fine too. It'd be nice if any interested party saves me the hassle of asking for a list of interests, too. Stife. |

I can recommend Colby, Boof, Shabby and Wacky. D2C when he's in the mood as well. They're my "go to" guys when I want to talk trades for rebalancing purposes (e.g. I'm short a defender etc). Naturally, when I'm hunting a particular player, I've got no choice who I deal with. Stoney doesn't fuck you around much either, but we always seem to be in different spots with our lists (e.g. Stoney going for old scorers last year and picks this year. I've had neither when he wants them). I have fuck all picks and no interest in bringing any in, but I do want to re-open talks in regards to all the players I've expressed in during our PMs. I'm also keen on Crisp (I'm not sure we've discussed him). |

For the record it was Pick 2 & Pick 6 (2014) for Pick 4-6 range, Pick 10-14 range, pick 12-15 range and Harry Marsh So yeah, was a great offer. Which I declined purely because I see '15 very similar to '13 - 8 elite prospects and then meh beyond that. And I very much want Lachie Weller with 6. I'm a bit of a douche, aren't I. |

You just overthink all of your (potential) trades Stife. Sometimes to a crazy level. Just go bang with some massive ones, you'll find that even if you lose/break even on the first couple the momentum that you can build often ends up panning out ok in the long run. |
