If you've got a fit Mitch Clark in your team and he's not the #1 forward, he should probably be rucking for a good bit of the game.

Clark is quite possibly the most underrated ruckman in the league. He's got the luxury of being able to play forward (and back a bit) too but he's so good through the middle. Was it '09 where he was nearly AA playing as a full time ruckman. And since then with the pace of the game/tactics and new ruck rules it suits him even more.

Just because he *can* play forward, it doesn't mean he *should* - he's a better ruckman than forward, it's just that good forwards are far harder to find so he's more valuable to most there.

Depending on how Dawson develops/stays fit and assuming HMac continues his (predominantly age related) decline I'd be partial to having Clark as the #1 ruck with a Vardy (if fit) rotating through heavily with him (and Stanley at times).

Freo also convinced Colin Sylvia to go there last year ad well.

his role will be relative to hos competition, and right now hes behind a few in every position fwd/ruck/defender.

in stoked we have him as depth, but our best 22 now wouldn't be a lock to have Stanley in it (that's obviously just my opinion)..

hes all yours Colbert.

Spot on mate, thats what I am thinking.

Tbone and Stanley and one of Walker/Kersten to be the forwards.

That is if Clark is fit and ready to ruck.

Precisely how i see it too mate. There's a consolidated group of blokes, and IF Stanley gets a game, he'll be slotting in around the main players.

even then there will be some pretty direct competition for those last couple of spots.

Now we need a goal sneak/mid to actually replace Christensen.

What's the deal with Vardy now? Tbh I'd kind of put him in the Menzel category before today but is he actually training now or...?

Vardy has had 3 unrelated injuries. I'm still pretty optimistic about him. Will add a lot when hes back.

So what you're saying is he has three major parts of his body that have all suffered massive structural failure at one point or another? :P

Yeah, i thought that was pretty obvious given how much footy hes missed?

if say he'd have redone the same thing three times, id be giving up too.

i had a broken arm, torn quad and ac joint by 23, then didn't have an injury ever again til i quit footy 5 years later. Not even a niggle.

im obviously not comparing my body to his, but sometimes unrelated injuries are just bad luck. Or you can just be injury prone full stop.**

im no doctor colbs, just a footy follower who likes nathan Vardy and thinks he'll come good. Soz bruz.

I agree with Stife that at his best, Clark is a much better ruck the forward, but for the same reasons he mentioned, he will play forward.

It's a shame, but he really is Geelong's 2nd best option as a KPF and he would be their best ruck. But KPFs a lot harder to come across than rucks. I'm not sure what his tank would be like either, after missing so much footy (His last three years he's played: 2012-11 games, 2013-4 games, 2014-0 games) and just as much training.

I'm placing my money on KPF next year.

I don't mind where he plays, but the forums went into overdrive about where ottens should play when we got him (having needed ankey forward ever since ablett snr retired), and he ended up playing ruck right through.

im not writing Clark off as a ruck resting fwd just yet.

I'd definitely be thinking Clark will be the #1 ruck in 2016, next year would probably be a bit too much to ask of him though given how long he's been out.
