Many reasons to this deal, really really fucking excited about Hartung, if you want to go back to through the archives of the shoutbox you'll find me pumping him up pre-draft as a jet. Reckon he'll be a 200+ game player, quick as hell, runs all day, uses it really well and has already impressed internally at Hawthorn. Hill is decent, but is soft as fuck and doesn't really have a great deal of "value" around here. ![]() Broadbent is interesting, he's a pretty poor kick of the ball and inconsistent as fuck, but he plays the most fantasy friendly role in the game as that loose player in defense. IMO his limitations as a player will hold him back from becoming elite, but he'll be good nonetheless. Do like Lynch, should be a consistent 80-85 SF this season so I'm happy with him. Thanks to Eski too, trade talks around these parts are painful to a persons soul, good to have some decent negotiations. |

Broadbent went at 75% disposal efficiency last year! that's not elite but nothing to worry about. Think you're right about Lynch. Hill average 46SC in the first half of games last year and 14SC 2nd half. I don't know if he's improved his endurance but worth the risk. I think you're right about Hartung as well. But most importantly, you got the bit right about realistic trade talks. It was a welcome relief. |

He's in the top 20 players in the league for turnovers, his disposal effiency is only 75% because he kicks the ball short constantly. Still decent though. |

I'm very interested to see how Lynch goes this season with the additions of Walker, Podsiadly and Betts into the Adelaide forward line. |

At 25 he's a bit older than most people realise, but yeah I agree he's in a spot of bother. |

Jenkins is 25? Damn, he's definitely in trouble. Though I don't think Pods will feature too prominently this season to be fair.

Jenkins was a mature age pick when essendon grabbed him. Lynch is in trouble. I rate him so highly but I don't think the crows coaching panel rate the way he plays within their system. Think they want 3 genuine talls and 3 genuine smalls. Jenkins/Pods/Mckernan will probably get that role with Johnston on the sidelines when really i think pods/lynch/Johnston is a far better setup. Lynch if he's to play will take hendersons role in the back 50. And he'll do it just as well. Really good half backer |

Don't agree with your opinion of his spot in the pecking order in the forward line, but agree he'd be a great HB. |

I've read through a 30 odd page thread on Adelaide's Bigfooty board regarding what their best 22 will be in Round 1 over the course of the pre-season as I've been following Laird's progress, and of all the people who have posted their 22's, not a single one doesn't have Tom Lynch in it. Jog on Stife. Edited by Colby, Feb 27 2014, 08:08 PM.

... big footy. Lynch is in my best 10, let alone 22. I just think unless they want to go 3 talls/1 semi tall/2 crumbers Lynch will fall. I don't know why but they've got such a hardon over both Jenkins and McKernan. I'd not be surprised to see him in the 22, just in defence. Absolutely tears up SANFL from half back, clearly has the game to play there and plays it in a similar way to henderson. Like for like and solves the dilemma and also allows Smith the opportunity to try himself in the middle. |

Because McKernan is tearing it up! Out rucking other teams number 1 rucks. Jenkins is terrible! |

Walker, McKernan/Jacobs, Lynch, Porps, Lyons, Betts. Adelaide starting Forwards. Jenkins covers Walker until fit. Edited by Eskimo Brother, Feb 27 2014, 08:47 PM.

I was furious when I found out McKernan was gonna be traded last year. I hate him so much as he walks into a key forward slot when fit despite doing fuck all to warrant it but when I heard his market value was pick 45-70 I was like wtf. Such a great kind of player to have as squad depth as he's a capable ruckman, an okay forward and a reasonable defender. He pretty much covers every key position on the ground to an okay afl standard, so he's pretty much an awesome depth player. There's always the potential with his movement he'd be more but he hasn't shown it. I'd have very little problem with them dropping Jacobs for him and playing him as a ruckman. It's the notion that he's a good enough forward which frustrates me. Johnston's a far better forward and given he towels SANFL rucks with 10cm on him when he plays there in the SANFL I'd probably say it's worth it using him or Jenkins to cover the 10% game time where Jacobs can't ruck if it means McKernan doesn't just waste space down forward. |
