Who in their right mind would want Savage over Vardy?

As much as I love Vardy's degenerative hips and grand total of 17 games over three years, I'm gonna stick with Savage. Thanks Pin <3

Pinny can you tell me the last player you picked up before they broke out who wasn't a first round draft pick? No offense but when it comes to judging upside in players you're probably in the bottom 3 on the site.

Savage went at about 85ppg this season minus sub-affected games, he's also a great user of the footy and is solid athletically, given he'll now have infinitely more opportunity to play his game saying he has less upside than a key forward with degenerative hips is just moronic. Would love to hear any logical criticism you have of him based on anything football related, fire away Pin.

With Smith out for about half of next season, I needed someone to fill that ruck spot hence this trade.

Also a fan of McInnes.

Haha, love the absolute shit kicking Tom Hawkins value has taken because of an isolated degenerative condition to one disc in his back, yet Vardy's hips are further damaged literally every time he steps onto the field. His injury should have ended his career, and it's only through missing nearly 70% of games since he did it that he's even on a list any more.

The biggest problem with him is that he doesn't have just one problem, he fractured the joint during the (relatively minor) hit that caused all his issues, tore away the majority of the cartilage in the hip and has had huge issues with Osteophytes (excess bone growing in the socket) which was why they operated on it again in 2012. With a very small amount of Cartilage left in the socket the hip is now Osteoarthritic, that's a permanent, incurable condition which to put it bluntly means he's not able to run without pain management treatment, and considering the demands of AFL football if he's playing more than even 12 games a year that's simply not going to be sustainable.

Vardy had an incredible amount of potential before his injury, but I can't find any cases of athletes with Osteoarthritic joints playing at an elite level for longer than a five year time frame, there might be some, but I can't find them. The first thing I asked Boof when we confirmed the deal was to not bring up his hips in the trade thread, I hope he does get a year or two of consistent footy out of himself with proper management, but this is the perfect time to trade him out.

Snappy, I agree with TBNB that vardy may struggle to ever walk again.

Hit me up with a list of interests champ.

He was training unrestricted in the main group prior to Christmas, participating in full drills.

Still a better AFFL prospect than savage that's for sure.

Pain Management is a beautiful thing, unfortunately no amount of Percocet rebuilds a hip.
