Confirm, thanks mate for the easy talks.

Putting one last crack into Higgins, if I fuck up at least I got pick 9 to make me feel a little better

Might look like I've paid overs but it must be said that Watts has been my #2 target on this site since he was drafted. Everywhere he's been; Sydney under Snappy, Essendon under JM - I think Boof had him for awhile and regrettably I didn't pursue him but virtually everywhere he's been the price has been more than what he was drafted with.

This is the first time he was at a justifiable price. I think he's fantastic; his ceiling is immense - mental attributes, not so much - but he can work on them.

The bloke did average 85 last year as a SD/SF role so even if he doesn't become the god everyone expected, he's certainly got a record of being a 'non mid' who has averaged over 85 which are remarkably rare.

That said, since the bye he's averaged 84 which includes a wet weather 26 - all of which he's been playing a key forward kind of role. While this is stats manipulation, even if you exclude the first two games before he was dropped where he was underdone, sylvia style he averages 77.

He's hardly a spud, and at worst I've snagged a long term servicable player. At best I've snagged a KPF who can go on and average 85+ for me. I do think he'll get KPF status next year - the main reason I did this.

But yeah, fair cop; do understand why this might be criticised.

I actually did this deal thinking it'd hinder me. For some reason my mind was thinking that pinny losing points is bad for me. I just realised it's not! Added bonus really, your post just made me realise.

That said, I've no doubt Pinny will trade in some points over the next fortnight anyway. I wouldn't fret much, I'm certainly not fussed if Stoney finishes below me.

The way I consider this deal is like this.

I've traded an 80-90 ppg SF for an 80-90 ppg KPF with a few extra years. Both have the upside to improve their output big time.

The ~pick 9 was just compensation for the upgrade to a KPF. If I only have to give a mid first rounder to change a small forward into an equally outputting key forward, I'm happy.

Like it Pinny. Watts can still be special but things will need to change drastically between the ears for him to become a consistently good footballer rather than playing really well once a month.

Its probably a fair trade.

But if stife justifies it by saying at worst he's traded in an 80-85 fwd... can he then justify it that he's just traded out an 80-85 fwd + a top 10 pick?

"This is the first time he was at a justifiable price" - Stife

That's because the longer a bloke spuds it up, the more his price depreciates. #AFFL-Logic.

Yeah true, despite what I said, the fact is I don't have a lot of faith that Higgins will become the player he was once touted to be, I think he's definitely going to be one of those guys that is carefully managed throughout his career.

Yeah I once thought Higgins would be a 100 ppg, dpp player at his peak.

Injuries and the WBD coaching department have killed him.

Pinny must be pinching himself with the last two deals he's got across the line...

Gray and Watts
for
Deledio, Higgins and a top 10 pick.... great work.

To be fair this was very similar to the original offer I just threw at him. He's just lucky that he's had two very good offers that all he had to do was say 'post it' to.

He still tried to be greedy though pinny whadda cunt

Having about 4 great kpfs already softens the blow a little.

Still not liking it though. Should have happened, confident it'll happen when I need it anyway
