He'll average +110 one day, mark as truth
Yep, Gray is a future brownlow medalist IMO...

Will spend more time in the midfield this year and will become elite next season...

Agree with Stoney. Gray's in the top 10 valuable players going round IMO
Personally I'd have every kpp in the comp ahead of him.

Gray will certainly score higher...no questions about that.....110 eventually is a bit of a stretch though. I reckon 95-100 will be his peak, which is no mean feat.

Of course if he plays midfield full-time then he could quite easily reach those lofty heights.

Birchall will never be a giant scorer. He's just not an accumulator, 21/22 or not.

Which is great, but he'll never reach an average of 25+ IMO....which is what most players need at least to click 100.

I'll have to disagree with you there. He's hit 100 many times so far in his career, if he gets back to his 2008 form, his average should go up into the 90's at least

Birchall is a shit truck, will make a good VFL player when he gets axed in about 3 years.

lol everyone on this site is obviously a retard...

We're talking about a player whose in his early 20s averages 21 disposals as a running defender... and one of the smartest cookies going around comes out and says "he'll never reach an average of 25"

Its 4 disposals more than he already does, and he's still a good 4-5 years of his peak performance (history suggests players peak at 27). Why on earth can he not reach 25 disposals per game, hardly out of the question.

Looking at running/rebounding defenders at the same age and tell me whose better than Birchall? Ask anyone in the know and how highly he's rated at Hawthorn, I'm assuming shabby is purposely being an idiot with his insightful thoughts (or at least I hope he's doing it on purpose).

People need to seriously learn to read potential, in 2003-2006 Bartel was too slow, Ablett was inconsistent and only getting a game because of his father, Enright was too injury prone to become a good AFL player, Cameron Ling was slow and the "modern game" had gone past him every year, and James Kelly couldnt get his hands on the ball enough to ever have an influence on an AFL game... it's a great example of how individuals develop when they hit their peak.

How you can suggest Birchall won't improve on his 21 disposals per game at 22 y/o is beyond me.

Managed 90 yesterday in a side which absolutely tore Melbourne to shreds possession wise, he won't see that much ball against good opposition. After going through his stats he gets 25 touches about one in every four games. Yes there is room for improvement but not enough given the role he plays to average 25 for a season. He is also not an incredibly efficent SuperCoacher....probably get more bang for your buck in Dream Team.

How do you figure that he's not an efficient SCer? For the past 3 three seasons his SC average has been higher than his DT average.

Everyone severly underrates Birchall, which is a real shame. And D2T your point about playing against the Demons meaning he should have gotten higher......he's a bloody defender. None of them saw much of the ball

Nah see that's not an argument....it's not Under 12's where a team doesn't get the ball in their half all game, the ball would have been around him just as much across half-back.

Just because he averages more in SC (only 5-6 more) doesn't mean that's efficient. Most players who average 80+ in SC score more than 5-6 than their dream team equivalent.

In a game where Hawthorn tore their opposition to shreds, you'd think he'd get a bit of the ball, which he did with 25 touches. Did that equate to an elite score? No. Simple.

Will he improve over the next few years? Obviously. Will that equate to him becoming elite? We'll have to wait and see, but I don't think so.

But why did you say you'd get more bang for your buck in DT then?

He's just more suited to DT IMO, as his Supercoach scores aren't THAT much higher....but anyway, getting off topic......I just don't think he'll ever become a full time mid or a Goddard type off half-back, so I don't see an average above say 91-92 happening at all.

At 21-22, Goddard was worse than Birchall... he was slow, and couldnt find the footy for the first 4 years of his career. See you can easily compare players in their peak (ie Goddard) to Birchall - but look at them at the same age and you dont have a leg to stand on as to why Birchall cant be the same player (or potentially even better).
