Cap it to picks in the upcoming draft. Also, work out how we're implementing GC17 and WS18 (if at all???) because that will greatly affect the draft, and the value of picks. For example Melbourne's 1st rounder as it stands will be 16, introduce 3 picks each in the first round to GC and WS and then pick 16 becomes pick 22 - which is a pretty big difference. |

It'll definitely be capped to the upcoming draft. And GC17 will be worked out shortly. |

probably a mute stance given the votes but agree with JM against it ...2010 picks are next seasons trade bait & the coach trading them now may not be around next season if it all goes pear shaped.Hardly an enticing scenario to walk into as a replacement coach. |

Can't see your point there tbh. That still happens in the game as it is, look at the state of the list Armoo had to take over. Lets not forget that the admin can overturn any trade if its deemed totally unfair. |

Glad I'm not alone I actually made that point in the admin section. We've had teams left with very little quality by past coaches but at least the new coaches had the benefit of future picks to help rebuild. It's now possible that their picks could be traded too. But on the flipside I think we've now got responsible coaches so it greatly reduces the risk of this happening. ...and Pie, thanks for the sentiment. But if it goes through, and it looks like it will, I won't be disadvantaging myself by not trading picks. I just don't agree it should happen. But if the majority want it... |

... then majority get it!!! sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! alright, now we need to organise how we're introducing GC and WS - once thats done, and their picks from this years draft are confirmed, we can get trading of picks happening. 2 ways we can do it imo 1) Automatically give GC the list it ends up with after the real life draft. - That way the team can come into the comp in 2011 (and we'll have a bye). That way the coach gets the actual real life Gold Coast team to begin trading with. For the rest of the competition, all the players that dont get drafted to GC17 go into our national draft, and thats the AFFL 2010 National Draft are GC dont interferre with our draft in any shape whatsoever, its just their young players wont be available for selection as they'll already have been drafted and you will have to trade for GC youngsters. 2) Both GC17 and WS are introduced together in 2012 and we have a 16 team comp in 2011. Allocate picks in advance, and give the new managers the ability to poach a player from every club at the end of this season, draft in the 2010 draft, and then sit out in 2011 season and participate in the 2011 draft and then have a full list in 2012 to commence. The downside with this is, we'd need to find 2 more managers who would be willing to draft in the 2010 draft, pick untracted players from existing teams... but then sit out for 8 months as they wont be participating in the 2011 season. Personally, if this were the case, I'd advocate for existing managers to take the role as GC and WS managers, and give the unproven new managers already established lists (ie - RLL to take a new team and give TLP or whoever stife's friend is whos been waiting in the wings for some time the role as Melbourne coach) |

I'm of the opinion both clubs should come in during 2012, but as for the finer details I don't really know what we should do. I guess if we did find two new managers, yes they would have to 'sit out' for 8 months.....but they could still trade could they not with the players they currently have? That at least would give them some interest? |

Personally, and this is just my opinion, but I'd prefer for GWS and GC17 to come in at the same time in 2012. Ideally, two coaches would come into our game as soopn as we could find suitable applicants. They could begin trading of their draft picks straight away if they so desired. Unfortunately that won't be me. I've started this season, and intend to finish it off too. RLL want's a three-peat. Some may call that selfish, but it's what I aimed for since the start of last season, and I want to accomplish my goal. Edited by Lliam, Mar 17 2010, 01:34 PM.

If these teams are getting picks for the 2010 draft, this situation needs to be sorted ASAP before the potential bringing in of trading upcoming draft picks.

Just an idea that D2T and I came up with that I decided to post ... Some people seem to be a little wary of future draft pick trading simply due to the fact that there is a minute possibility that lists could be irreparably damaged. What we were thinking is that any trade involving a future draft pick would be subject to a little more scrutinisation than a regular trade would be. - All trades involving a future draft pick must include a short reasoning from all parties involved. Nothing massive, just outline why you did the trade. - After this point, if two or more coaches report the trade, due to it being really uneven, then it would be reviewed by the admin team who has the power to alter/reverse the trade. How does that sound to everyone? |

I like it. It's not a huge difference to what happens now, as I've noticed most coaches post their reasoning anyway, but yeah if we make it compulsory for reasoning when trading picks, I think that will prevent people trading willy nilly and potentially killing their own lists. Admin always have the ability to overturn a trade, so if there is a big enough uproar over a trade then it gets overturned, simple. |

I'm fine with that RLL however I'd personally like to see the following added. -Admin CANNOT alter trades, only let them pass or refuse them. I felt really uneasy altering I think it was a JA - Stife trade last year. I don't think we should have the power to do that as they are not our lists. If a trade is grossly unfair then fine, we'll scrap it, but I think it's wrong for us to go around fine tuning trades to one that we feel is fair. |
