You can thank Pinny for that title. Now I'm going to leave the rapping to Phlow, but I'd like to announce that Snappy has been appointed as coach of Hawthorn.

After finishing runner up in the 2017 season, Snappy has reportedly been training the house down this off-season and is in the best shape of his career and ready to attack this year head on. So now that I've run out of pre-season metaphors, I just wanted to extend a big warm welcome back to AFFL for Snappy.

Let the trade frenzy begin!

Welcome back Snap! Hopefully you can become the first long standing Hawks coach since Rickety.

The club needs some stability.

Best of luck!

As a good friend of Rickety’s I would very much like to continue his legacy and get that premiership that we were both chasing.

It’s a good feeling to be back in the AFFL coaching ranks, and I’ll be doing things different this time. Historically the better teams on this site are the ones willing to trade anyone for the right price. In the past I was guilty of become too attached to my players, now with a fresh list I will have no such problems.

I’ll need a few hours to assess the list and the market, as I’m sure it’s changed since the last time I was around. Once I’ve done so, I’ll send some messages out and chuck up a thread/shoutbox to let everyone know I’m open for business.

I hope all the talk is true. Especially that you're more assertive in trade talks and not just passive and receptive. I'm still cynical though.

Good luck, nonetheless. I'd love my fears to be misplaced.

100%.

Stife you’ve been one of the most inactive traders for 18 months now. If it wasn’t for a good team and reputation, you would’ve been considered for chopping back when Snappy was. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Still been logging on every day. Last 6 months have been poor but for understandable reasons, but before that I was still around and trading - it's just a lot harder to get things done when you're the one everyone's trying to chase down. I'm back now, though.

Whatever happened to Rickety anyway? Since he’s been gone we’ve had plenty of worse coaches on the site. Maybe worth approaching him to see if he’d be interested in coming back and taking the Saints job?

Good luck Snappy. If we could get all of Snap, Stife, Wacky, Shab and Spud firing before the start of the season it should be very busy on AFFL.

When I saw him last he said he wasn’t interested in coming back.

I get that want all teams to be filled, but I’m dead against approaching coaches we sacked previously. The only reason anyone gets sacked, is because their activity turned to shit (put extremely bluntly).

Now if ‘said’ coach comes back off their own accord and posts an explanation as to why things would be different this time round, we should assess on a case by case basis - IE. snappy.

But I’d prefer to leave a team vacant for a bit as opposed to recycling trough sacked coaches in a desperation move.

Nah, keeping your best 22 up to date is your biggest achievement by far. Still a solid contribution though.
