Feel like I'm overpaying a bit considering the injury, but overall I'm happy with it. I've already got Rory Lobb as a R/F, who I'm confident will score well enough over his career to fill a KPF spot but not confident will score well enough to fill a ruck spot. Bringing in an elite ruck allows me to shift Lobb forward rather than having to use him as a ruckman. So I view this trade as not only filling a ruck spot for the next few years, but filling a KPF spot too. |

I still love NicNat and hope he comes back to be a champion. Hopefully I can pick up some solid pieces with the picks received. |

Don't disagree with the logic, you've just come to the wrong conclusion. Minimum acceptable score from a KPF would be higher than your ruckman. Lobb already scores at an acceptable rate for a ruck. |

There may be a bit more depth in the KPF spots but the elite rucks are a fair bit better than the elite KPF's. There's no KPF out there who puts up numbers like NicNat does. NicNat in ruck + Lobb up forward > Lobb in the ruck and Riewoldt/JJK/Buddy etc up forward |

Maybe I should rephrase. I'd rather pay up for an elite ruck and shift Lobb forward than pay up for an elite KPF and continue to use Lobb in the ruck. |

There's two elite ruckmen, Gawn and Goldstein, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Nicnat never makes it back to his previous level pre-ACL. So unless you're getting one of those two, the 'elite rucks are better than elite KPF's' argument doesn't hold water. Lobb to the ruck and then loading up on KPF's is the more efficient trading strategy. |

Well then that's where we differ. If he'd had a history of knee injuries I'd be worried, but plenty of players have come back from one ACL as good as or better than they were before. From my own club, Robbie Gray the flaky small forward suffered an ACL injury and Robbie Gray the superstar midfielder came back. Averaged 106 ppg this year from something like 67% gametime. If that's not elite, I don't know what is. |

Max Gawn is clearly the best ruck in the competition and he's done his ACL twice. |

Robbie Gray's entire body is about as big as the leg NicNat ruined lol. NicNat's entire game is built around being able to jump higher and stronger than anybody else, take out the ACL on his jumping leg, as well as the hammy tendon they take a graft from and nope, not seeing it. Also Gawn and Gray were both much younger than NicNat is when they hurt themselves. You can quote literally hundreds of blokes who have come back fine but you wouldn't find a single one whose career is built so much upon the movement that an ACL rupture most severely impedes. Then take into account that by the time he gets back on the park he'll be 28, around the time his physical attributes would have started to decline anyway, stick a fork in the poor boy. |

Time will tell I guess. I don't deny its a risk, but if I'm gonna catch Stife and co I have to be prepared to take a few risks. |

I like it Schulz... you've had a game plan from day one... and not wavering... you're on the right track and as you say there are risks that must be taken. Good stuff mate |
