Hoping to get a trip to New York in March, thinking of going whilst the St Patricks Day Parade is on too.
I know a lot of Rebs have recently been and I was wondering if you have any advice for hotels? I was looking at the Westin, and also the Waldorf so price isn't too concerning, although I don't want to pay tonnes and end up in a shitty place.

Has anyone stayed at any good hotels that were Mid Town/Times Square convenient that they would recommend?

Much appreciated.

I stopped in the Cassablanca hotel on Times Square mate, it was absolutely brill, only a little hotel, they do continental breakfast and between 6 and 9 do free wine/champers and nibbles, oooer missus. Ideally situated and staff could not have been more helpful, check it out on tweb, still too much of a fuckwit to post a link. I was concerned as i didnt know if standard would be up to what the Baroness would expect, i should not have worried. Fabulous resteraunt next door and about 20 yards down street is a brewery and next to that a Belgian beer bar.

And how many times did you get mugged in that 20 yards?

Fitzpatrick's Grand Central nice little intimate hotel. Beautiful old style bed should impress the missus. Very handy just off Lexington.

Keep them coming folks, I'm forwarding the missus the hottels so she can Google/Trip advisor them.

Oh, by the way, I got my Permanent Residency for Australia yesterday, I'm not quite sure if they know what they've got themselves into lol.

SHIRT LIFTER!!!!!!!!!!
i have stayed in a boutique hotel called san carlos on the same street as st patricks about 4 blocks east and round the corner from the waldorf - we got a cracking deal and it was a very nice hotel.

in terms of snap - i had a brilliant steak at michael jordans restaurant actually in the grand central station, also had a brilliant meal at a place called carmines on times square - no menus just notice boards on the wall. its italian and full of locals - be prepared to wait and go when the shows are on around 8pm. - just like me, the portions are massive and are meant to share. we had a leg of beef with roast potatoes and fried onions and mushrooms...unreal

couple of final tips - we though rockerfella top of the rock was a better view and quieter than empire state building and the staten island ferry is worth a return trip, free of charge and go at sunset...

Cheers all.
The missus is now telling me that the West Side is dirty so she doesn't want to stay there or near Times Square. She has been all of once so I guess I should listen there :lolanimate:

Anyway, with the exchange rate as it is here I am hoping to book soon as, the AUD and USD are nearly 1:1. Some of the boutique hotels aren't big enough for two plus Jonno JR. was lookin at the Westin/Hilton/Crowne etc etc.

Will be after all of your restaurant/eatery reviews nearer the time though.
