And it's been a long time coming as I didn't manage to get to any of the friendlies. It seems an eternity since the Millwall game and I can't wait for today's game to get going.
We are going up this year, I can just feel it in me water!!!!!!

Aye was a grand start yesterday... hot hot hot, some good football (despite losing our way in the middle-3rd), and most importantly a result.

Higgs - had nowt to do. Couldn't do anything about their goal. Flapped at a cross, but was vital that he came for it to put off the striker.

Kisnorbo - looked good and solid, comfortable on the ball.

Crowe - a great debut - solid in defence, lots of pace and not affraid to make runs forward - great overlap and cross for the goal.

Marques - looked good and solid, comfortable on the ball.

Parker - again solid, good run for the goal. Him going off injured seemed to coincide with us loosing our way a little.

Johnson - not really involved, but did nowt wrong.

Doyle - another great debut - broke things up in midfield nicely, always showing for easy balls out of defence.

Howson - good first 20mins, then went awol.

Snodgrass - was involved in everything good we did. Always had 2/3 defenders to deal with, and was on the receiving end of some hard tackles towards the end of the first half and was a lot quieter in the 2nd.

Becchio - Didn't really create much, but worked and battled hard as always.

Beckford - quiet game, but took his chances well, could have had 3 more - worked harder for the team than I've seen in the past - closing down the defence and chasing lost causes.

***************

Hughes - solid enough - mazy run down the right-wing, shame he was playing left back!

Robinson - don't think he touched the ball.

Showunmi - good control, turn and ball to Snoddy for the goal. Looked like a lower-league striker, big and single minded - won headers - unlucky to get booked after being blatently body-checked by their defender.

***************

Ohhh and the stewards in the west stand have an easy life - everyone sitting down without even needing to be asked and absolutely no signing or rowdyness.

One Bobby Robson chant

Agree with most of your comments there Spud

Snodgrass never stopped running, not one poor performance to mention, lots of endevour, very close to a hatfull of goals

Good atmosphere but quiet on too many occasions

Game ended closer than it should have done, but in general good team effort and a deserved 3 points

I work in Exeter and all of the Exeter fans are saying how friendly everyone was

Got home at 22:20

I didn't really know why Corr had been sent off during the match (assumed it was something he said to the ref, since the corner was awarded to them), but have now seen the replay on the tellybox and am more confused.

He blatently punches Doyle in the kindney as they're chasing back, and justifyably sees red. BUT. How was it a red-card but not a freekick? The ball was still in play and it happened under the refs nose - he stopped play later when the ball went out for a corner and went back to deal with him.

Not that it matters at all.
