Following on from YEPs poll today - [hyperthetically assuming we were currently managerless] Would you welcome DO'L back to ER?

Personally, I would welcome him back as a visitor (i.e. I don't hate him), but wouldn't want him back as manager. We're a completely different club now and while he started off very brightly - managing to add some flair to the side he inherited off GG - made some great signings initially (Dacourt, Bakke, Viduka), but then seemed to get caught up with his own hype (which reading the interview he still is), lost the dressing room, made some dreadful signings (no need to list them!!) - and therefore must accept some blame for what was to happen.

Statistically not a bad record though - P203 W101 D55 L47 - and it was a rather exciting time to actually move to and live in Leeds.

if he wants to buy a season ticket then he can come back to ER anytime he likes, well for that season anyways.

We played the best football of our recent past under him.

It all went down hill when he started adding players we didn't need to the team like Fowler and Johnson ( :scarehair: ).

I probably wouldn't mind him coming back as long as someone else with some sense dealt with the signings.

I wouldnt be totally against it, but as a rule I never think its a good idea to go backwards, its never as good as the first time around

No - No chance. He wrote a book that made money for him when the club needed support and no additional bad news.

Spoony is right. Media Whore. And Smug with it.

If he wants to come and watch a game...fine
Come back as manager....not fine

He has to take some of the blame for what is now part of our history

Yes, I enjoyed much of that time but some of the signings, when we had good academy players coming through to join an already strong squad.
His handling of certain situations when things started to turn and that bloody book which was launched for maximum sales and consequently maximum damage in the dressing room - it's hard to fathom what he was thinking, other than about publishers cheques

Well said Billy.

DOL started to believe his own publicity and became too focused on himself than the team. Looking back at the squad we had it was a travesty we didn't qualify for Europe and he has to take a share of the blame for that.

We did well in getting to the semis of the Champions League but how much was that DOL and how much was that a squad of hungry young players just going out and playing well?
