I'm glad this is being looked at again. I know that they may not be released once the tariffs have been served but, the tariffs themselves seem unduly short. I heard that the mother has already been in prison over 2 years, so she's due for parole within months.
There is definate need fo clarification of these sentences. People expect life for murder, especially one as horrific as this. There is too much confusion over what these sentences actually mean.

Absolutely spot on, WW. For vermin like these, they should get life, and it should fucking mean LIFE.

I don't know if I'm missing something or what but surely those who passed sentence must have been aware of the seriousness of the case and the carelessness of the authorities in missing the signs. Didn't they think that by dishing out a lower sentence there would be no sort of review - which brings more mistakes into this case?

In cases like this the judge should look at the highest possible amount of time he can give and give it to them.

nice to hear - i read quite a bit of this case and let's face it this was not a one off abuse - a systematic tourturing of a child whilst under some level of social services scrutiny
